I was inspired by the recent Michigan tripawd pawty - especially since you Michiganers were all front leg amputees and our last Wisconsin pawty (except for our Spirit attendees, of course) had all rear leg amputees. Anybody think we can bring them together for more balance?

I think that's a PAWSOME idea, Gerry! My mom is going away for the last 2 weeks of October (and I'll be going to one of my favorite places for part of that time!), so November might be easier for us. But if we're the only holdouts for an October pawty then go ahead with one then and mom will send a picture of me for you to hold for the tripwads pictures or something! I know my mom said she'd plan the next pawty - but she's just gone back to work full time and is having some trouble adjusting to that and being an empty nester (whatever that is - I think our nest is still full!). Thankfully, it's not impacting my nap or treat schedule cuz she can still work mostly from home! We'd all love to see you and your mom!
Hugs,
HJBG

November would be easier for us too. But despite my best efforts, I'm probably going to be out of vacation time (or too close to it) so I'm hoping a Saturday or Sunday would work for everyone. Probably before any one can step up to take on the organizing or planning, we need to figure out roughly where we can all meet up - who can travel how far? Gerry is now a pro at car rides, so heck, I'd be willing to try to go all the way to Michigan, if we can work out the timing so I don't have miss any work, but I don't know if that would work for Holly's crew.
I'll send out some PMs so we can get some more input on whether others are up for it.

I love the idea of a Midwest party, however Rocky isn't much of a rider and the 1 1/2 hours we traveled to the first party was quite a big deal for him. I don't know if he could make it much farther than that, he just gets so excited and won't relax I'm afraid he'll have a heart attack!
But it would be so nice to meet everyone and see their precious dogs. Maybe I could give Rocky a shot of whiskey to calm the nerves. JK

Have you tried D.A.P.? It didn't seem to make much difference for Gerry, but it's a pheromone that dog moms give off, so it's supposed to put dogs at ease in situations they otherwise find stressful. The make collars and sprays. They sold it at two vet's offices I've been too.
Gerry got better with his car anxiety though with lots of time, treats, and I think taking rides with my roommate's dog along helped him some too.
I actually have most of a bottle left. If you haven't tried it and are interested, I may as well ship it your way so it doesn't go to waste - we're not going to use it. Just a thought. If you're interested, give us a howl.

The Queen is definitely up for another Tripawd pawty, especially since her 2-year ampuversary is approaching on November 11! That is an excellent excuse for a pawty. Trouble is, I am in school so would only be able to drive no more than a few hours. I am off on Fridays and available some weekends. Will be out of town November 3-7. November seems better schedule wise, but the Queen and her seeing eye dog are real big pansies when it comes to colder weather. Michigan weather in November can be unpredictable. Is there some sort of venue that would give us the option of going inside? I would volunteer my home and yard but it's pretty far for Wisconsin people, being on the east side of Michigan. Grand Rapids would be a good option, or perhaps something a little south of there, like Kalamazoo, to make it easier for those outside of Michigan?
We are up for anything. The Queen is all about spreading the love.

Ginger can handle a car ride of a couple hours.
October is already filling up for us.
November could be possible - depends on the date. Weekends work better for us.
We would love to attend a pawty - we haven't been to an official Tripawd pawty yet. Esp. if we get to help "The Queen" celebrate!!

Well, maybe all those of us who can should try to make a Michigan Pawty close to Nova's 2 year ampuversary and we'll just keep trying for a greater midwest type party? I'm willing to try to make it out to Grand Rapids or wherever you all think would be easiest to find! I couldn't make it unless it was on a weekend though. I can't manage any time off How about the Saturday or Sunday after Nova's ampuversary (the actual day is in the middle of the week, isn't it?

I know Charlie loves the car ride, but Michigan, in November, will be a stretch for us. No camping and I have to start my comprehensive exam on November 5th (ending December 3rd).
However, if one comes up again close to Madison, I am there!
I will not be telling Charlie about this, so I appreciate you all not letting the cat out of the bag...
"I don't know where I am."
The weekend after Nova's ampuversary (November 11th is the day) would probably work for me. That would be the 13-14th. My only concern is the cold. Our last pawty was cool and windy, but November here can get pretty nasty. It's probably only worth doing that late if we can find someplace to have it indoors. If Gerry can come then we should have it as far west as possible, to minimize the drive for Gerry and his mom. I would drive further (outside of Michigan) since my girls love the car, but it's impossible during a weekend when I am in school.
I would love to meet as many Tripawds as pawsible, and hope that Nova will still be with us next year so she can continue to spread the love. As we say around here, "Dog save the Queen!"

Hello Midwest Tripawd's -
Boo and I can meet up on Friday's or Saturday's in November. Boo rides well, so we could easily travel a few hours.
I did a quick search for indoor dogparks (for her royal highness Nova) and I found a nice one in Howell, MI...
...but Howell, MI is more mid-state, so it would be a long-hike for the WI folks! (Michigan is beautiful and has lots of fun, dog-friendly Bed & Breakfast spots)! ...you could make it an overnight visit!
Then again, Grand Rapids sounds lovely to me and Boo! Keep us posted!
Boo became a Tripawd Warrior Princess on Sept 8, 2009. She crossed over the Rainbow Bridge 2.7 years later on April 29, 2012. Run free Angel Boo!
We could probably make it to Michigan if it's on the western /southern section of the state. I don't think we can swing an overnight since we're going to be away so much in October. I'll look to see how far Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo are. I agree with the Queen - November can be iffy on weather and we may want to watch to see. But what a cool thing for us to all celebrate the Queen's 2 year ampuversary together! Maybe we can have tripawd crowns or something... hmmm, I wonder if Holly could dress as a lady in waiting and Zuzu could dress as a court jester!

Howell is very close to my house, so if we all went that far we might as well come to my house! But it's not convenient for those outside of Michigan and much closer to the middle and east part of the state. Grand Rapids is probably best to get Holly and Gerry there.
