Alright I'm new here but I'm looking for other dog mom's and dad's with tripawds to meet and share stories with. I have two dogs. My first ever dog, Napoleon, a fully legged rescue who was dumped in Bettendorf IA, and Josephine, a lovely dumped pup who was hit by a car and had to have a leg amputated when she was less than 6 months old. As Jogie is only 1 year old I worry a lot about her future years. I want to make sure I consider everything. Thats where Tripswds.com comes in. I should also add that I have only lived in Eau Claire for a year. It's been a busy year, however I have had a hard time meeting new people and one of the few places ive succeded was at the local dog park. Now that I've joined tripawds I would like to post and see if there are any other tripawd moms and dads in the EC WI area to meet up with?

Hi and welcome to Tripawds.

Your future posts will not require moderation.

Thanks for joining- hopefully you will find some members to meet up with.

You might also consider posting in the Share your Story forum to tell us more about your pack.  If you have specific questions you could post in one of the other forums such as Beyond Cancer since Jogie is not dealing with cancer (yea!) or Hopping Around to get more responses.

There are some good diet and supplement ideas in our Nutrition Blog and some great ideas on Tripawd fitness in the Gear Blog.

Good luck finding other Tripawds in your area!

We're way down in Madison, but with enough advanced notice, we've been known to take a road trip for a good pawty!

Welcome to Tripawds!

Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009.

He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury.

Videos and pics of Gerry's pawesomeness can be found at: http://gerry.tripawds.com

Hi, I'm not in WI, but wanted to say welcome to you and Napolean and Josephine. If you have specific questions, folks here are always willing to help. Lots of super supportive knowledgeable folks on the site. I have even met folks on here that I now consider to be good friends. (even though I've never actually "met" them...) 🙂

Being a tripawd pawrent is awesome. Welcome to the club.
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

Thank you everyone! I will work on pictures. I'm mostly online on my iPad but it seems easier to post pictures on my laptop so this weekend I will get some photos posted! Thank you for all of the positive responses. It is nice to know people are so open to supporting one another through this journey of raising a handicapble dog. I have a hard time calling my Josephine handicapped, she keeps up with Napoleon so well that it hardly seems right to limit her, however it is hard to find folks that realize that. Often at the dog park people feel like I am being mean to let her and Napoleon wrestle. They do best up on each other but no one gets hurt and it looks mean but they are just establishing their pack. Napoleon is very protective of Josephine and it is hard to explain that to people since she seems so disabled to them. Has anyone else experie fed that?

Welcome, welcome! We're so hoppy you joined.

Yes, we also believe that calling a Tripawd "special needs" seems kinda silly at times. You are definitely in the right mindset: no pity allowed, a Tripawd should be treated the same as all other quadpawds, with the exception of monitoring their exercise a bit more. Watch some of these videos from California Animal Rehab to see what i mean. A Tripawd's life should be as normalized as possible.

We can't wait to hear more about your pack!

I loved the Eau Claire area! I even played in the river at the local county campground. What fun!
