Hey Shari,

That park sounds nice but I can't find a place to park our RV for the night in or near Lafayette, the closest park is in Golden. I think we are going to have to pass on having it there. Thanks though.

Hey, you can park on the street in front of my place till Christmas! I'm sure the HOA won't mind.

If you find someplace and decide you want me to swing by--or if you want to know about it for future reference--let me know and I'll go.

Nice to see everpawdy here!

Shari, we would LOVE to get some announcements out, like at CSU etc., so if we can decide on a time and place today, that would be great.

Let's Pick a Location:

There are two cities that I think seem to be convenient for everyone: Golden or Littleton. Let's pick a spot in one of these two:

Golden:

Homer's Run Dog / Ulysses Park This park seems just OK, basic but small. Close to parking (I think).

OR

Tony Grampsas Dog Park Sounds nice and shady but it's a 300' walk from parking to the entrance. Is this feasible for everyone's pup? If not, no biggie, we'll skip it.

OR

Littleton:

Wynetka Ponds Bark Park Sounds nice. Not sure how far it is from the parking area to the park.

Chatfield State Park. Here's a link. This gets rave reviews, apparently one of CO's best. Not sure about parking distance and it's an $8 fee to get into the park.

Let's Pick a Time:

11 am or 4 pm?

Dakota is pretty impacted by his amputation and arthritis, but he can go 300'. He may stop and rest a few seconds along the way, but it's not a race, right? I think the Tony Grampsas park sounds really nice. If everybody else can get their dog to go 300', I certainly can.

At first I thought I didn't want to do anything as late as 4:00, but the more I think about it the more I realize the weather should be warmer then than at 11:00. I know many people will not want to go that late because of Saturday evening plans, dinner, etc. I will defer to the wisdom of the pack. Either time works for me. And dogs may prefer earlier and cooler.

NEWSFLASH!

Sorry to be so wishy washy but I just heard about the Ella's Walk Humane Society fundraiser in Longmont on the same day we are planning to pawty. The walk will be a day of fun and celebration for dogs at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. It's free to attend but a $15 donation is requested of walkers. Our friends at FitPAWS will be there along with tons of other vendors.

Is anyone interested in meeting up at this event?

If so, I can see what kind of $$ they want for Tripawds to have a booth, if there's even space left. We could hang out at our booth and do Tripawd demos. Remember how much fun you had when we did this Dakota?

What do you think? Or should we go back to the original plan?

Stay with original plan. I don't know that well around here. I only live here 2.5 years. Mostly I know here in CR, HR and some area in Littleton.. Morrison (Red Rock)..

Littleton Park would be great?

I am not sure about time.. but usually Saturdays plans in the AM. I won't know till next Monday for Saturday 19th.  I think 4pm is great..

1. How many people did you have who were planning to come to the dog park?

2. Would those people still be able or want to come to the fairgrounds? Is it too far? How do those dogs handle places like the fairgrounds?

3. There wouldn't be off-leash running and playing at the fairgrounds.

4. What would the meeting time be and about how long do you expect this event to last?

If I had to vote and was the only one voting, I think I'd still vote for the dog park simply so the dogs can be off leash and not confined. Location isn't important to me since it's all about the same distance. But if you only had a couple of people coming to the dog park and they are ok with going to the fairgrounds, that's fine.

Take a poll from those who responded and see what you come up with.

If we do continue with plans for the dog park, I really don't care. Since all are about the same distance, I'd rather let those who have a strong preference pick. Not sure I want to go to Chatfield, though.

Golden and Littleton are reasonably close to me (45-50 minutes). Castle Pines/Castle Rock gets a bit far. But Golden and Littleton are only about 30 minutes from Castle Pines, I think, so those places sound like they are in the middle for most people.

I know there are more of us out there. Where are you all?

Ok, I think we should skip the event idea. Let's stick to plan. Can we decide now? I'll post this to FB too.

Shari where are you coming from? I know Dakota doesn't like being in the car, so we should definitely take that into consideration. I agree, Chatfield sounds great but too big and crazy.

Gus, will Golden work for you? As Shari said it's only about 30 minutes from you.

To reiterate:

Let's Pick a Location:

There are two cities that I think seem to be convenient for everyone: Golden or Littleton. Let's pick a spot in one of these two:

Golden:

Let's Pick a Time:

11 am or 4 pm?

Typically our gatherings last about 1.5 hours, maybe 2 depending on how hot it is. I like the idea of meeting later, it could be less crowded then.

The Golden locations are closer to me than Littleton. I'm coming from Lafayette, 287 and the tollway area.

Dakota goes with me to our mailbox pretty often and that's a distance. His motivation is pure terror, so he moves along nicely! oh-my  "Get me the heck out of here so I can go back inside and hide!" I really don't think the distance is a problem. If it makes you feel better, we can do the smaller park. But the bigger one sounds really nice. Please, do what is best for the group. Dakota will be fine either way, just as long as he can crawl into my lap and hide his head in my armpit.

I'm new to this group. I might be able to come to the pawty but I live in Longmont so I was already planning to go to Ellas Walk that morning. I hope sometime Hoshi and I will have a chance to meet other Tripawds and their parents in this area.

Either location would work for us! Afternoon might be good that way if people wanted to go the fairgrounds they could do that first and then head over to a party in the afternoon?? Also, somewhere with water for the pups to play in might be nice if it continues to be in the 80's... So maybe the park in Littleton?

Hoshismom, thanks for joining us here, we sure hope you can make it!

How is this for a location & time:

Place: Golden, Tony Grampsas Dog Park The reviews are fantastic and there's lots of shade.

Time:  4:00 pm

Thoughts?

Gus, I'm really sorry that Golden is farther away for you (about 15 minutes past Littleton) but it's the most centrally located for everyone We hope you can make it!
