Announcing the next Chicago-area Tripawds Meet! With this heat, we decided we needed some shade (especially for Ginger) so instead of the beach we're going to Whalen Lake Dog Park in Naperville, August 12th at 9:00 am. Daily permits are $5, see http://www.reco...../dog-parks
Come out and join us! Here are some of Spirit Tate's blogs about 2011 meets so you can see just how much fun they are:

If anyone of you has any media contacts, let me know, otherwise I'll just start contacting local newspapers & calendar listings, etc.

I don't have any media contacts, but here are a couple pictures from the gathering we had in June, & here's where Finchy wrote about it: http://chilidaw.....-together/:
Maybe we could try the Plainfield Patch- it's an online paper- I will check it out.
Diagnosed with OSA: 5/2/2011 Ampuversary: 5/11/2011 OSA returned in hip: 8/26/2011
Chili Dawg crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 8/30/2011 & is now pain free. He was my heart dog, and I miss him every day.
I was able to post it in the Naperville Patch, but not the Plainfield Patch (because it's not in Plainfield- so then it's not a free posting):

Pawesome, thank you! My day off is Wednesday so I'll have time to dive into this then. Feel free to add any calendar listings that you can think of though, it would be a big help. Let's get a hundred Tripawds to show up!

Here is the official announcement for the pawty:
Three-legged Dogs Meet for Friendship and Support in Naperville
Greater Chicago area “Tripawds” meeting at Whalon Lake Dog Park, Sunday August 12
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 25, 2012 -- Naperville, IL — When most people see a three legged dog, they usually say something like "Oh, poor dog!: But dozens of rambunctious canine amputees will gather at the Whalon Lake Dog Park in Naperville on Sunday, August 12th at 9:00 am. to persuade people to celebrate the courage of canine amputees.
Canines and humans from the greater Chicago region will party at this popular "Tripawds" gathering. The party is organized by local members of Tripawds.com, the world's largest online community for canine amputees. The Whalen Lake Dog Park is located at 1480 Royce Rd, west of Route 53, in Naperville. A park entry fee of $5 is required but the party is free.
While special emphasis will be placed on celebrating the capabilities of three-legged dogs, all dogs are invited to attend, including non-Tripawds.
The Tripawds community offers support, resources and information for those whose dogs lose a leg due to cancer, accidents or birth defects. The event is a fun way for pet parents to gather and empathize with others who have faced the difficult decision to amputate in order to improve their dog’s quality of life.
What: Chicago Area Tripawds Three Legged Dog Party
Where: Whalon Lake Dog Park, 1480 Royce Rd., west of Route 53 in Naperville (see: http://bit.ly/lhQgNk)
When: Sunday, August 12, 9:00 am – 11:00 am
INTERVIEWS & PHOTO OPPS: Various Tripawds members are scheduled to attend with their own three-legged dogs, and anyone interested is invited to come.

Just submitted it to the Tribune, the Naperville Sun Times and the Daily Herald. As the date gets closer, I'll put a Craig's List announcement out there. Any other suggestions?

Well, we didn't have "dozens" but we had old friends and new friends. We REALLY missed Isabelle and Holly but we had new Tri Bosley (yaaaaayyyy, Bosley!) And the venerable Ginger, 2+ Year Survivor Princess Extraordinaire, here she is with her new BFF Molly. The bouncy Cadence was there, fresh off her 1-Year Ampuversary - woo hoo! And a bunch of black monkeybutts, acting like...well, monkeybutts. The last pic is Spirit Tate's little monkeybutt brother, Zeke almost 6 months old
It was wonderful seeing old friends and making new ones. We know Spirit Tate and Spirit ChiliDawg were smiling and running and exploring and playing there...even if we couldn't see them.

Ohhhh, I was wondering how it went! What fun! These are hoppy times for sure.
There's always next time to get "dozens" of Tripawds there! We'll keep trying, just keep us posted.
Thanks for the scoop! And by the way, Zeke is just darling!
