Does anyone have any experience using Zolendronate for treatment of Osteosarcoma?

Would love to hear some experiences.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Diane, thanks for registering as a member and joining.

Yes, zoledronate is pretty common among our members. You can flip through these search results about zoledronate in our Forums, and I'm sure folks will chime in here too.

Forward thinking oncologists have been using it for quite a few years. Here's an article we shared a while back:

Bisphosphonates: When Amputation isn’t an Option

Meanwhile, tell us more about why your onco is recommending it. We'd love to hear more about your current/future Tripawd, so share away. Your future posts won't need approval so we'll be waiting 🙂

Hi, I am new here. I do not have a tripaw dog, I did not have to amputate thank God.  However sounds like all your dogs are amazing.

My 11 year old boston terrier was diagnosed with histiocytic sarcoma, we did surgery but did not get the margins.  It grew back twice the size, we opted not to do surgery again as it was entangled in his shoulder however was not in his shoulder.  We did palliative radiation, which was once a week for 5 weeks and added an injection of zolendronate only (no chemo).  His tumor shrunk to nothing, he is probably at 100% again playing ball and running.  We still do monthly inj of zolendronate (by our choice) and he is on Dr.Dresslers apocaps , and I feed him the diet that is in the book, so I cook for him, no more dry dog food.

Anyone just do the zolendronate inj and have a great outcome?  Rocky was diagnosed in April and is doing amazing , was wondering if we should do the injection every other month now just due to the expense.  It is experimental in the fact that there is some question of just the drug killing histiocytes and stoping anything from spreading and that is the reason we decided to continue as he does not have any bone involvement.

THanks

Kathleen

My Tripawd Rosie has 20+ mets to lungs just 3 months post-amp.  She obviously didn't respond to chemo.

Tried Dastanab but the side effects are too great.

We are using the Z injection tomorrow as a last ditch rescue med.  fingers and paws crossed!

so happy to hear it worked for your guy.  Gives me hope!  Thanks for sharing.
