Spirit had her first dose of zoledronate on Wednesday. She seemed sore and achy yesterday and even more so today.  To the point that she was hunched while hopping  and very quiet.

Are these type of side effects common, how long should  it last,  anything to make them better, anything to be concerned about?

We did get acupuncture today and I went back up on her gabapentin .  She is 4 weeks post rear leg amputation.

Simon had 6 zolendronate treatments... I never noticed any symptoms. I will be continue with zoledronate every month as his health stays stable. ( I do have pet insurance that pays 90% of the charge,, so  why not)

Yeah, let your Vet know what's  going on.    Don't  think this is a side effect per se, so I would bring the Vet into the loop.

Is it possible he's tweaked  a muscle?   Massage up and down his back, his shoulder, etc.  Does he show any tension  anuwhere?  Maybe also check with the Acupuncturist  to see if this is related in anyway to the treatment.

Let us know hownit goes, okay?

I'm not an oncologist but I haven't heard of that type of side effect for Zoledronate. Typically a dog might have GI upset.

What kind of walks/activity has Spirit been getting lately? She's not that far past surgery so using care to make sure she doesn't overdo things is extra important.

Glad she got the acupuncture, that should help quite a bit. What did the vet say about her situation?

Spirit seems better today.  I've restricted her activity the past few days. I've also massaged  her several times  along with using my cold laser.  This afternoon, she was seen by a canine massage therapist we have used in the past.   You could see the relief in Spirit's face as Kaci was able to release the tightness.

It probably is a combination  of her feeling so much better and doing too much. From the day she came home from the hospital, she has been totally  independent..

Thank y'all for the input... going to finally post our story. ....

Oh good!  So glad Spirit is doing better! 😁 Yeah, it's  so easy to tweak muscles early on.  And it's  really easy to overdo early on also.

I KNOW she's  enjoying  the massages!  It really is amazing  to see the positive difference a massage therapist can make.

Thanks for the update.

She's such a lucky dawg with so many folks making sure she feels better. This is great news!

I spoke to my oncologist's vet tech this morning. They have seen  a few dogs have this side effect after zoledronate administration.  Before her next treatment,  I plan on her having acupuncture a day or two before,  as well as whatever else my oncologist recommends.

She is feeling better, even wanting to play ball this morning
