ZIVA really looks like pure elegance. And that light frosty on that smoochable mug of hers makes her look quite distinguished amd wise.
Thanks so much for sharing her beauty with us!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Ziva is not doing well. She has stopped using one of her back legs now so her mobility is down to almost zero. If I help her about she will go out to go potty but I need to be close by to keep her from tipping over.
She's starting to develope some lumps which I'm sure are more of the cancer. She continues to eat, drink, and go potty. We are managing her pain with Meloxicam and she seems good with that.
I fear it's only a matter of days before the hard choice will need to be made. Ziva will let me know when it's time. Been very very sad for a few weeks since the diagnoses of mets in her lungs.
I'll be loosing my best friend in the world and it's going to be very hard to deal with but I need to do what's best for her not me. I'll keep you all posted and thank you for the support and advise over this last year.
Oh, Steve. I am so sorry. Ziva is deeply loved and I know your heart must be breaking. Ziva will definitely let you know when it is time, so as hard as it is right now, try to soak up all the joy you can while she is still with you. And make sure you take pictures of her with all of her people - you will treasure those for the rest of your life. I'm sending you so much love. Stacy
Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com
Drats! I'm so sorry Steve. She's such a strong girl but at this point, if her mobility is badly compromised, I would see about upping her pain managemen. Meloxicam is an anti-inflammatory that only addresses one type of pain. I'll bet she could really use some additional medication. Right now it's all about comfort.
My heart hurts for you. Treasure the moments you have together even more, and spoil her rotten. It's good that she's eating and functions are otherwise normal. You are doing a great job with this very difficult phase.

Agree about maybe adding Gabapentin back into the mix. The leg weakness could be so many things that could possibly be helped with some pain management . When you massage up and down Ziva's spine, neck, shoulders.....does Ziva show tension anywhere? And massages are always good for comfort no matter what.
Is Ziva alert and engaged? Sounds like she still has a good appetite, so now is the time to throw in lots of extra yummies. Ice cream is always a winner!
Continue to.stay fully present in the moment with Ziva.and make each moment the best moment ever! And remember, she is"sad" or worried or fearful. She is just happy to be with you soaking up all your love and spoiling♥️

At 10:05 pmt Ziva crossed over the rainbow bridge. We tried some other pain meds but all that accomplished was a lump on the couch. So after lots of thoughts and prayers and consulting with Ziva's vets we decided the best option was to let her go. We all think she was putting up the good fight for her humans so it was time for me to step up and do what was best for her.
You could see the relief in her eyes after the first shot to make her sleepy, she almost seemed to say thank you. She went very very peacefully and I ( even being a man) cried my eyes out the whole time there and all the way home.
I am so very grateful for everyone here that supported us and all the rest of us going through this difficult process. It's been almost exactly one year since Ziva was diagnosed. And I am thankful for every minute I got to spend with my best fiend in the whole world. Until we meet again Ziva God Speed.
Thank you everyone and I will check back soon. Steve
And we are crying out eyes out too. Ziva is such a beloved family member well fell in love with from day o e💖
And Steve. Ziva was saying thank you. It is abundantly clear she was thanking you for loving her enough to release her from her failing earthly body. She was thanking you for giving her the best life a doggy could ever want. She was thanking you for giv her all this extra bous pain free time for almost an extra year. You made every day, every moment so happy for her.
No, Ziva could no longer be Ziva. She knew you would recognize that as an "existance" as opposed to living. And yes.she was thanking you for that I sight I to who she is.
You two shared one heart and nothing can ever separate that ,ind of unbreakable bond.❤

Steve - I am holding you and your family tight in my heart today. I greatly appreciated that Ziva and Griffin were on this journey together. Their surgeries were 19 days apart and their rainbow bridge crossings were 20 days apart. I always knew that you were rooting for us just like we were rooting for you. I loved the pictures that you shared of Ziva, especially the ones of her outside where she seemed content to rule over her queendom. I am wishing you, your family, and the rest of your pack peace and gentleness as you begin to grieve the loss of your beloved Ziva. May she rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing. Stacy

Steve, I am deeply sorry, and holding you and Ziva close in my heart. As differicult as it was, you made the most loving and compassionate decision for your warrior girl. Her loving spirit will forever thank you for your courage and willingness to put your own heartache aside.
There is no way to ease the pain you are feeling with words, I wish I could. Grief is a hard journey and if you want to talk we are here. Please share more when and if you are ready. Ziva was such a happy girl and your attitude was so pawsitive. The two of you were and always will be role models for this journey.
