A few of you have PM'ed me asking about Zeus and I appreciate that very much.  He is a bit better, but still has me concerned some.

He came home from the hospital last Wed. and they had given him a long-term antibiotic shot (lasts two weeks) and a pill-form antibiotic.  He seemed to be breathing faster/shallower and was still quite lethargic and panting with any activity at all and was scratching alot.  So, on Sat. morning we took him for a follow-up.  Vet thought it might be an adverse reaction to the antibiotic and had us discontinue the Primor pill since his blood cell counts were back up and the fever was down.

The itching has subsided but he still seems so tired and just generally doesn't feel good.  I keep reminding myself that he needs time for his body to recover from the infection, but it is so hard to seem him this way.  Sure would appreciate it if you guys would keep sending good thoughts and prayers to him.

Lisa

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Pawsitive thoughts are coming your way! Hopefully he is just still in recovery mode and will be back to his old adorable self soon.

Get better Zeus! And stop scaring all of us!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. I will keep Zeus in my prayers.  I know how hard it is when you can tell they don't feel right and you want to do something.  I'm in Wisconsin and it's been a hot Memorial Day weekend, so if it's like that your way a husky-mix might not be too crazy about the heat.

Harley is an 8 year old Golden Retriever. Amp surgery for an infiltrative lipoma canceled due to two masses in chest. A rescue, he found his forever home on 3/18/07 and left for his eternal home on 1/09/13. His story and medical history are at http://myharley.....pawds.com/

I will beam pawsitive thoughts your way until you tell us Zeus is back to his adorable normal self. It would be soooo much easier if our doggies could just tell us what was wrong and how they feel. Second-guessing is exhausting.

Lisa, give him lots of hugs from all of us and tell him to quit malingering!

Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.

We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.

Thank you for the update Lisa, we've been thinking of your boy and hoping that he's on the mend. Is he eating and drinking normally? Just curious.

You are an awesome nurse and doing all you can for him, all it takes is more time to help him heal. Meanwhile, we are all sending lots of positivity your way. Keep us posted OK?

Ugh...those yucky antibiotics!!! They make everyone SO sick to their stomach....but they are a necessary evil!!!what-ever

My friend Annabelle the Basset Hound ( a quad....but HEY...no one is perfect) is on heavy doses now and she is making her mommy SO worried with the same exact symptoms!!! But the Vet told her you just have to work through the nausea...ultimately she will be OKAY!

And so will my Pal Zeus!!!

Love ya Buddy!!

You are both in my prayers and I am sending you lots of pawsitive thoughts.  It is so awful to see our fur babies not feeling well.  Antibiotics can make you feel yucky.

Hi Lisa,

Zeus is a beautiful boy.  It's so difficult to see our babies in pain and uncomfortable.  We are thinking of both of you and hope that he feels better soon.
