Glad to report that my boy is home and sleeping right next to me. He is so tired and obviously weak, but much better than he was yesterday. I picked him up at lunch and took him back to work with me where he totally crashed in his crate for the rest of the afternoon. Got him home, he ate his dinner with gusto and has since crashed between mom and dad. Apparently the squirrels, left to their own devices all night while he was in the cage at the vet, are now back to being chastised and chased by the monster Zeus because his little feet and nose haven't stopped going the entire time he's been asleep.
Thank you all again for the support and understanding. I am humbled by your kindness.
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Wonderful news-welcome home Zeus
Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.
Prayers said for Zeus! I hope that he feels better soon!!!
Jac and Angel Spencer. Spencer was 5.25 years old. He fought a grade 3 fibrosarcoma, started on his shoulder. Left front leg amputated in August 2011. 15 weeks of chemo finished 12/22/11 (mytox and adria). Lung mets found on x-rays 12/28/11. Started carboplatin 1/6/12. Went to Heaven on 2/27/12. I miss him like crazy every day. See his blog here: http://spencer.tripawds.com/
YAY for being home! A little rest and the Zeusy will be back to his old self!
Come on Zeus....keep getting better!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Whoa, I am glad i was late to this news because I have a real soft spot for Zeus and his adorable grin — so glad he is home. Keep getting better Zeus and keep that lone met lonely!
Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.
We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.
Lisa, I imagine you had a heart-stopping moment when you realized the vet was going to x-ray Zeus's lungs. You want to know, but maybe you don't...
Tell Zeus to keep chasing those dream squirrels. They're much easier to catch than the other kind. The more he rests, the better he'll feel for his big weekend of pampering. So glad you can take him to work, too, but I'm sure he gets even more special treatment during weekends. I will give Dakota a big belly rub in Zeus's honor. You can kiss Zeus's nose and tell him it's from me.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/
There's nothing like being around our pack to help us feel better. I hope he has a restful weekend (well, except for those crazy squirrel dreams, those are good for him!) so that he can get back to feeling good again. If his appetite is good, I hope he gets tons of good eats! Spoil that boy rotten, he deserves it.
Lots of hugs coming your way from all of us.
