A few prayers/good thoughts would be appreciated.

In hindsight, Zeus did not seem as energetic yesterday as normal.  This morning he coughed/gagged a few times and then through the day he became very, very lethargic - would hardly stand up to go to the bathroom.  Vet visit diagnosed a temp (105.5) and x-rays were a little cloudy.  WBC was completely bottomed-out.  Dr. R thinks it's the early stages of pneumonia.  With the WBCs so low he suspects Zeus caught an infection that settled in the lungs.  So, he is in the hospital overnight on IV antibiotics and fluids.

The bit of good news that I can report is that the lung x-rays showed that the met is still single and still appears unchanged!!!

Lisa

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

I wish you all the best for a quick recovery and sending you positive energy!!

If its early stages, it should be easier to treat.

I don't like to be scared Zeus!

Kick back at Club Vet and get rid of that nasty infection.  I want celebratory Zeus fries by the weekend!

The bit of good news that I can report is that the lung x-rays showed that the met is still single and still appears unchanged!!!

The sign of a good cancer-dog Mom - no matter how sick our pups get with anything other than 'c' we find a 'bit of good news' big-grin.

Way to stay positive Lisa- and strong, healing thoughts headed Zeus' way tonight.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I will be sending you lots of prayers for a speedy recovery for Zeus.  It is always really scary when we have to leave them in the hospital overnight.  But it is wonderful news that the met is still on its own!

Oh my goodness, not our Zeusy! I do love the good news though.... So I'm personally clinging to that!

Now, Zeus, you rest up and get all better and come home again real fast!!! Your angel Abby is keeping an eye out for you and making sure that Lone Met stays a loner!!
Jackie

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

Praying for you guys so that Mr. Zeus is feeling better really soon!

Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end.  On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.
