Zeus was supposed to start MP chemo, but since he came down with pneumonia we held off for a few weeks to let him fully recover before starting.  We go tomorrow afternoon to have the baseline x-rays done and to pick up the meds/get instructions.

We he fell ill earlier this month, Dr. R did x-rays.  With my heart in my stomach, I asked him was the met still just one, and how it looked - he said it was still one and didn't appear to have changed.  Although I realize they only took two views that day to check for infection instead of the normal three views when they check for mets, and also that Dr. R probably wasn't focused on inspecting the met as much as looking for the cause of his fever and sickness, I still breathed a sigh of relief that he didn't immediately see anything concerning as far as the cancer is concerned.  It was kind of a sneak peek.

That said, I am still very nervous for the x-rays tomorrow.  In the past I have asked you guys to send out the prayers and good thoughts and it seems to have worked.  I am here again asking that you keep my boy in your thoughts tomorrow and say a little prayer that the met is still skinny and lonely.

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

We will for sure send out our best pawsitive thoughts for Zeusy. I hope that met is a lonely, shriveled, pathetic little thing!!

We'll be keeping fingers and paws crossed til we hear the news!
Rita sends good luck nose-pokes,

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. No need to ask for positive thoughts and prayers for Zeus, he gets those automatically!!  I hope the x-rays show that met still all by itself, waiting for some chemo pills to knock it on its ass!  Go Zeus!

X-rays are always a scary thing!  Sending Zeus lots of pawsitive thoughts.  He is in our prayers.

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. Very pleased to report that the met is still lonely and still cannot detect a change in size.  Feeling very very grateful right now.

Zeus will begin MP meds within the next couple of days (having to have them specially compounded to get the accurate dosage for his weight).

Thank you all so much for the warm thoughts.  It really does mean the world to us to know that you guys really understand.

Good for Zeus!!! Great news--you are in our thoughts as you start MP. As I tell Lily every day--"We're going to kick cancer's butt!"  She just looks at me and and seems to smile--she's very patient with me:)

You go, Zeus!!!

Lily's mom, Joan

Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.
