We have been home from picking up Bella. Our other dog is very anxious. He whines a lot and us constantly trying to lick her. He is panting very fast and he won't stop the whining. What can we do to have him relax. Bella is doing great. She gets around great and is resting comfortably, but I am not sure what to do about our other dog. Any help is needed and appreciated.
Hi Bella, sorry I missed you in the Tripawds Chat . I'm there now if you want to talk. Back in a sec.

Glad to hear that Bella is doing great! Tell us more about her. Why did she lose a leg?
Is the whining normal behavior for your other dog? Have you talked about it with your vet? If not please do, you may be able to get him a sedative so that Bella can heal and doesn't become influenced by his anxiety. If that doesn't help you may need to separate them for a while and gradually re-introduce them after a few days.

On Sunday Bella darted out the door and was hit on the highway. The whining in the other dog is definitely NOT normal. He is usually calm and Bella is the excited one. He won't leave her side and if I let him groom her he is fine but when I stop him when he gets close to the amputated leg he is constantly whining. Thank you for your help I will call our vet and see what we can do for him. I am not sure if he is upset she isn't jumping around like usual or what but he is definitely not ok.
Ohhh poor Bella! No wonder your pup is worried, poor guy. Yes, ask your vet for a sedative and explain the situation, I'm sure they will understand. Keep us posted.
