Rodolfo had his surgery on Oct 29th and I brought his home on the 30th. He really wants nothing to do with me. He really enjoys other people coming to visit him. Physically I really feel he is doing fantastic, but I just think he may have not wanted this. Has anyone else experienced this and is there any hope he will come around?

I get some of that from Calamity too. I believe this is because I am her caregiver. I give her the pills, I take her to the vet, I make her get up to go outside (ouch! that hurts to get up mom!). She is relating pain & me together.
She is finally turning the corner (9 days post-op) and coming back to me for her pets & rubs & loving. She now comes to me when I offer her treats too.
I think it will get better for you, just give this time.

I remember hearing that very same question from an acquaintance after he had his dog neutered. The bare fact is that your dog is not angry, and least of all angry with you...be easy on yourself; your tension could be transferring to your dog. Dogs live for the now, not what was. This may sound silly, but have you tried singing to your Tripawd or playing quiet music nearby? That could help. I'm sure it'll work out.

First off, it's great to hear that Rodolfo is doing so well, so soon after surgery. Just three days after surgery is not very long at all, so please try not to be so concerned if Rodolfo just wants to be mellow and isn't as playful as usual over the next few days.
I'd also have to say that Lalla, Janie and Calamity are on to something; dogs will tend to relate the drudgery of daily meds and caregiving with the human who handles it. Nothing personal you see, and it doesn't mean we are angry, it's just the way we think. I sometimes acted in a similar way with my Mom; she was the one who always gave me pills and stuff, so sometimes I would give her a harder time when it was time for my meds, than I would when my Dad gave them to me.
Hang in there. This is just a little bump in the road of an otherwise smooth sounding recovery. Take a deep breath, and just take things one day at a time. They'll get easier! Good luck!

Well, Rodolfo is doing pretty good. He is getting around good but he does tire out really easily. I know that he was mad at me for a few days but he got over it.
He has been licking his front paws a lot underneath but there is no redness or heat or swelling. We get the staples out in 3 days so I guess we can ask our vet then.
Ah, good to hear things are going well. The tiring out easily is pretty normal. Hang in there! I'd be curious to see what your vet thinks about whether or not he was mad at you, so be sure to share her/his answer here OK?
