No sleep last night. Fed a lot of ice cubes. He ate 2 scrambled eggs this morning ( hand fed) . Went out to do business, but was so stiff and just off. I decided to check his temp. I pulled out thermometer before it even finished , as it was reading 105.4. Called vet ER to let them know we wre on our way. Obviously the antibiotics he is on are not helping. He has actually been having these episodes for months now, started after a steroid injection and synovial fluid draw. All before amp. 2 times since amp. This has been the worst by far. His temp at vet was 106.6. Heis on IV fluids and IV antibiotics. Reaction to CCNU? It is anybody's guess...resting well still has fever. Dr. Is to call later tonite. Hope it is not bad news. I think he has had some sort of underlying infection this whole time. Just want my dog to be better: cryingcrying have shed so many. Just want to catch a break for him.

I'm so sorry to hear this news. Please know that the whole Tripawd community is rooting for him. Those IV antibiotics are wonderfully strong and hopefully he'll be feeling better soon. I hope the vets can get this figured out so it doesn't happen again! Keep updating...

I'm sure he's in good hands.  Praying they figure it out.  I'm glad he's resting well.  Hang in there.

Amy & Libby

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

Oh gosh, we're here with you, okay? Ty''s at least gettng some goos fluids and the IV.. Like Carol said, the IV for the antibiotic is strong.

Are you getting the feeling at all that any of the vets ae making an effort to tie the "clues" together? Are they askingyou questio s...looking at Ty's charts...conversing with each other?

I know yo are absolutely beside yourself with worry! We all wish we could help ease your sgress. Knowing that hemis resting comfortablyis good. I don't expect you'll get much sleep tonight though!

Yes, please keep posting. Maybe to help keep your mind from worrying you could write down everysingle thing you can think of that happened prior to each "episode".

I know the Dermaxx..steroid thing was huge!
It almost seems as though the antibiotics he was given each time may have been just enough to "mask" the sysmptons for just awhile...temporarily.

Gosh, I don't now what to say......

Jerry gave some good advice in a earlier post to ask the vet.

TRY and get some rest...again, Ty is resting quietly and will feel better once the fluids and IV's kick n. O ce that fever ks reduced he will DEFINITELY feel better!

Sending you so much loveand positive energy...

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Actually that is my gut feeling.mI actually had the same thing happen to me a few years ago after a major surgery. Sick, antibiotics , good for z3 weeks , sick again. This went on for 6 months till it was figured out. I have raised the topic of Babiosos, as we live on a mountain. A long shot I know. May be a sepsis, a he has been thru 2 surgeries and the fluid draw/ injection. I am wondering now if the Deramaxx was the whole cause of that episode, as this was so similar. His liver, kidney function was pristine on Friday. Not sure if cancer spread would show up in bloodwork. Heart respiration, etc. all normal. I sure hope they are piecing it together. This is the 3rd set of vets, actually 4th because he is considered an internal med. patient now. If he pulls through this, I think I am going totally holistic. Hope nobody thinks I am cruel for this, I just want him to have some quality to his life till this crummy cancer comes again.

My stupid tablet is freezingup, soif it stoos mid-sentence, that's why

First of all....you are a WONDERFUL, LOVING DEVOTED ADVOCATE for Ty!! Every step of the way you have been guided by "professionals" and that's the best any of us can do!! Ty knows he is loved!!!!!

You raise such valid points.....points you may want to call the ER vet and run by them. Is the Babiosis the same thing as that Mountain Valley Fever?
The Sepsis, the Babiosiss....all require SPECIFIC antibiotics so maybe they'll check all that out.

As far as blood work results...and I'm no vet......but my vet said they can be an "indicator" as far as certain levels pointing to whether something is okay or not... and depending on anyother symptons or the absence of sysmptons.....don't knowif what I just said makes any sense! Anyway, I thinkit's a good sign that all Ty's bloodwork was okay.

CERTAINLY bringup the Drmaxx too. Sometimes ER vets are "newer" and maybe more open to checking out everything.

And me tionyour surgery challenge tooz! All this seems to be leading t so e solutin!!! HANG IN THERE!! And NO ONE here would EVER sitin judgement of whether you continue with holistic or conventinal!! ESPECIALY under these circumstances!!

COME ON TY!! Let's get that QUALITY kicking back in big time!! You are strong Ty and so is your Momma!!!

We are all cheering for you and sending you love!!

Nobody here will judge you for taking good care of your sweet boy. It's obvious that his comfort and well-being are the most important things to you. This is an amazing community, family really, of people with great ideas and tips. I'm sure there will be people that will offer you advice about holistic treatments.

Sally is right, and I hope you did share your specific concerns with the vets. You have every right to ask if there are tests for those things that you're concerned about to ask them to run the tests. You are paying them to take care of your Ty so you should be able to have some input if you want.

I hope you have good news to share soon!

Hugs,
Carol

I already gave them a post it with Babiosis written on it. Babiosis is a tick born disease spread pretty much like Lyme. Also, in addition to whatever antibiotic he is Getty interveiniously, he is also gettin Doxycylclne or rally. Because I asked. So I feel listened to. His fever is down to 103.3 so better one more degree and will be normal. Said he still seems depressed and tired, so that is a bit of a concern. I am praying for no phone call over night, as I was told no news is good news. She also said he shows no signs of sepsis which is good. Praying for a restful, recovering night for him.i will update tomorrow after talking to his internal med dr?Thank you all for your kind words and support, it means a lot to be able to come to this site and vent.

I don't have anything else to add but also wanted to offer my support and send you healing energy! Like Carol said, no one here will judge your decisions. Pet care is a very personal decision and since we have to be such huge advocates for them since they don't have a voice, it's even harder. Shelby's PCP told me yesterday that no one knows a pet better than the owner so be strong, be vocal and do what you need to do for Ty. I had to go back and forth w/Shelby's onco office for weeks trying to get her help for her digestive issues. I know my girl's belly was off and it wasn't just the chemo!

Hang in there and please keep us updated!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Yay! That's great news that his fever is on the way down. And I'm happy that you feel comfortable the vet is listening to you. I'm not surprised that he's still feeling tired and depressed...that was a crazy high fever. If we ran a fever like that it would take us a few days to feel better.

Please let us know how he's doing when you hear more news.

So happy to hear Ty's fever is down.  Phew!  We are praying for your little guy and sending positive, healing energy your way.  Can't wait to hear your update in the morning.

For what it's worth, I've become a pretty big believer in holistic care for animals AND for people!  We didn't get Jersey Girl on that path fast enough but I'm completely convinced if her immune system were stronger should would have been able to fight harder.  Read the stuff posted on this site and also do your own research.  I was pretty impressed by what I learned.
