OMD, you've totally described Rio's appetite, too. A half hour or so, somedays more, prior to dinner time, she starts sitting next to me, staring, doing what we call "Whistler's Mother," and I know it's because she wants it to be time for dinner. She practically takes your hand off when you give her a treat, too. And she used to be my picky eater, my hunger striker. We think it's probably a residual effect from her Cushings, even though we've mostly gotten that under control.

How's his water consumption? Normal or increased?

BTW, my chubsters have all lost weight since I started making them "dog soup." I feed them a combination of kibble (either Acana Pacifica or Taste of the Wild Grasslands) and fresh cooked. The "soup" is made with meat -- chicken, liver (beef or chicken), beef, lamb (what's ever cheapest), sardines, white fish and marrow bones. I add whatever veggies I have available -- green beans, kale, chard, squash, cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, carrots, etc. and cover with water. I simmer this until the meat is done, and then let it cool. Then I removed the meat and chop it coarsely. The veggies and broth are blended with a hand blender, and then I throw the meat back in. I serve about equal amounts of kibble and this at each meal. Sometimes I put cottage cheese in, as well. It looks gross and is kinda stinky to make, but the girls LOVE it. And even though I'm feeding them half again more volume of food, they've all slimmed down nicely on this mix.

Oh my darling Tate - you will always be ravishing to me 😉 I always try to eat more in the Fall too so I can put on some winter padding. My pawrents don't understand it either. They usually try to trick me by giving me just a little bit of food to placate me. Sometimes it works. I bet you are just afraid that silly old Sammy will steal all your food.
