Hi everyone.....just checking in giving a Tanner update. He is doing wonderful! We are so thankful that he is still here with us. He is enjoying life pain FREE!!! I am in awe of how well he is doing considering his age and his prognosis. They said because he was only 2 years old at the time of diagnosis his time would be limited. (3 months if we were lucky). And we didn't even do any chemo. Sept 4 will mark 10 months since his amputation. Amazing. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why he is doing so well considering? Could the amputation have caught it in time? Wishful thinking? Yes probably but it has crossed my mind.
Thank you all for your continued advice and support.

Wonderful news for Tanner! Thanks for the update, Amy. Here's to many many more happy ampuversaries. Why is Tanner doing so well? Consider starting a Tripawds Blog for him to share all the details of his treatment plan and maybe we could find out.

Hi Amy
That is great to hear. Did you and the vet catch the cancer pretty soon after Tanner started limping? Did the pathology report after the amp indicate anything about metastatic cells?
In any case, it shows that age is not everything which is great news for many of our young tripawds.

Happy Happy ampuversary and wishing Tanner many more to come.
I find it interesting that the vet thought he had "less" time because he was young. I would thing that a young otherwise healthy dog would have more physical resources to draw on and would have a better prognosis than an older dog. In any case it looks like Tanner proved them wrong. 🙂 and we couldn't be happier for you.

Happy anniversary to you,

Hi Amy, congrats to Tanner and you. It is both of you that are making it pawssible!
I would really be interested in why Tanner is doing so well, as Horacia is not doing chemo either and we have a short prognosis ourselves. But we are intent on beating the odds, so please share your story with us!

YEA!!! Congradulations to Tanner on the 10 month ampuversary. Based upon my simple calculations, Tanner appears to be just before Nova, who was just before Cherry, who was just before Trouble. It was a great idea to add the date of amputation to our profiles and now we have to figure out how to display that information. Time-line, simple list, link to excel spreadsheet (flat database), or a calendar program. A simple running list might be the quickest as a start.
Again, it is wonderful to hear that Tanner has reached such a great milestone. Michelle may think that Rocky's 3 week ampuversary gives him status as a "newbie" the truth of the matter is that we all have been there and one has to get past the 3 week before you can set your eyes on the next milestone.
To Tanner, Rocky, and all - ENJOY TODAY FOR THE PRECIOUS MOMENT IT PROVIDES! We all know that this moment would not have occured if not for dedictated pawrents and companions who are willing to fight for their relationship. Jerry puts it much better but enjoy today for today and live today for the moment of today.

Thank you all for your pawsitive comments, feedback and well wishes. Tanner and I are so very thankful to be part of such a unique and wonderful "community". Yes, every day extra with him is a gift and never ever taken for granted. He has taught us so much about so many things and I truly believe God sent him to us for a specific reason. He needed us and we needed him.
Many thanks
