Started Coco with her first dose(Lomustine) on Wed Feb 9th. So far so good no side effects yet. They did say it could take 3-5 days though, if she were to have any. They did say her liver values went up from 89 on Dec 23 to 139 on Wed Feb 9th. Could be elevated from the surgery or possibly something else. They gave her Denamerin to protect her liver. Also, to start her on an antibiotic to help her immune system on Sunday. I opted out of the ultrasound and needle aspiration as I didn't see the need to put her through that and also didn"t see the benefit financially as it doesn't change the course of her treatment. I am very appreciative of the support this forum has given to me and others and for that Thank You. I know every body likes to see videos of a happy dog, so heres another of her Thursday morning.  Shssh, don't tell her she has cancer. She doesn't know and doesn't care. Lol

She melts my heart every single time!  A VERY happy dog indeed!!  Happy AND comfortable AND exuding sweetness😊

Yeah, it certainly makes sense not to put Coco  thru anymore tests.   You clearly have her best interest at heart.  You have a plan forward and one that sounds like it could be beneficial 🤞🙏

FWIW, it seems like o e of my dogs liver value went up after surgery.  Vet said that happens sometimes...of I recall.  Anyway, Danamerin is a good liver support.

And you are 100% right!  She has no interest in any ole' "disease" .  Nothing jas changed in Coco's world and she's  just gettin' on enjoying all the endless loving and spoil you are bestowing on this sweet Princess.

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

PS. Her hoomans have a a good pawsitive attitude too!  And that is a good energy for her to be around!👍

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

LOVE seeing Coco! Thanks for the sweet video and really good update. I hope she's still feeling great and being her old self.

I don't have direct experience with elevated liver values but hopefully that's just a hiccup. What antibiotic did they give? Just curious how that relates to immune support.

As far as not doing the aspirate and ultrasound, I'm right there with you. If there's no therapeutic benefit because of it, why? I would have made the same choice and I'm betting that Coco would too.

Hope you have a great weekend!

She starts the antibiotics 4 days after her first chemo dose. Amoxicillin/Clavulanate 500mg every 12 hours with food. Than a week after first dose another cbc blood test. To fine tune her dosage. Thanks for the kind words and support everyone.

Ohhh got it, so used similarly to how metronomics uses antibiotics. Got it! Thanks for explaining.
