Marshall's xray showed small opacities in his lungs that weren't there 2 months ago. She isn't sure if these are mets so she wants to do another xray in 2 -4 weeks. What are your experiences with lung mets? Is this how they usually start? He also has lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks without dieting.
Thanks!!!!

Hi Jessica,

I'm sorry you got such uncertain news, I know the difficulty in hearing things like that.

Lung mets start out a number of different ways, either suddenly appearing as many small spots ("snowflake" pattern) or just a few at a time. Weight loss could be from any number of things though, if he's not showing any other symptoms there could be something else going on. When was the last time he had lab work done?

X-rays are a good measure of if and how mets progress but oftentimes if the office's machine isn't up to par, it could miss things or give false readings (our own vet's machine had that issue, which is why our osteo dx was delayed for months). If the x-rays aren't at least digital, and a general practice vet took them, you may want to get a referral to an oncologist with more advanced equipment or even a CT scan (see Zeus' experience with CT scans and lung mets).

I really hope it's not mets, keep us posted OK?{{{{hugs}}}}}

Hi Jessica and Marshall!

Yeah, ditto everything Jerry said...especialy avout tje xray equipmemt!! Een my regular vet has said the same thing. And when Happ Hannah was first starting this journey, the onco always had the radiologist take a lpok Once or twice in the very befinning, she would mention some sore of irregularity and the radiologist would dismiss it as...X...or X.....wish I could remember the words, but it mever amonted to a hill of beans!

A d let me add about the weight loss.....the scales can vary jist as much as the xray machines. And when you have a young fella like "Tsh" (isn't that his nickname?) n the scales wiggling around they can be pretty darn INACCURATE!!

I kmow to say not to worryis apretty hard thing to do! But remember, Marshall isn't worried about a thing!! As you've practiced throughout this entire journey and for uears to come...LET NOTHING ROB YOU OF YOUR TIME TOGETHER!!! Stay in the present with Marshall...in the NOW!! He's feeling good...he has good quality and nothng else matters!!!

We would LOVE to see moreics and videos of yor boy!! The sowball nes you shared withs a bit ago were sooooooo adorable!! MORE!! The crowd roars, "WE WANT MORE!" Marshall, you are one feisty youngster!!

Sending yo lots of hugs!

Thanks! The X-rays are digital. Dr. Loops is adding an additional remedy. His 2nd birthday is June 11. When he was first diagnosed I didn't think he would make it to his 2nd birthday so I am so thankful that he is thriving and happy. Here is a silly little video of him playing with a grape tomato. sns=em

Thanks for all the love and positive thoughts. He's a complete goofball. I will have to post a video of him eating a raw egg. He carries it around until he's ready to smash it and then he eats it. Cracks me up every time. Sally, unfortunately they said his young age is actually a disadvantage with this ugly disease. Breaks my heart! But he is living it up.....he stole half my sons egg sandwich off his plate and ate it in one swallow. I can't even get mad at him I just laugh.

Aww, Marshall -- he looks like he could be a movie star! What a sweetie. Glad Dr. Loops gave you some other options. Does he do Chinese herbs as well as homeopathy btw? Happy Countdown to 2, Marshall!

Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.

Look at how gentle he is with the tomato, until he munches it to bits! That is so cute, thanks for sharing these, I love seeing that little pup.

Ok, so I will keep my fingers & toes crossed that the mark on the x-rays are just a dirty lens or something. Who knows, could be anything, hopefully nothing.

It's so cool you're working with Dr. Loops, if anyone can help you and Marshall beat this thing he can. Deb, I'm pretty sure he's only focused on homeopathy.

And yeah, I've heard that statistic about young dogs with cancer too, but just remember Bart's story, he was just a young pup when he got osteo and he sure beat those odds! He's eight years old now! Crazy eh? I hope Marshall is just as fortunate. Keep us posted and keep those videos coming!

Thanks everyone!!!! We sure do love this goofball. He is such a baby. I can't go sit with my husband at night alone bc Marshall jumps up with us and on us and makes these whining growling sounds. He's such a jealous guy. If he wasn't dealing with OSA we would ignore him and or correct him since that's dominant behavior but we just give him love.
Dr. Loops, I believe only handles homeopathic remedies. The new remedy he is adding is Kali- carb 200. At least I think that's what it is. It should be here any day. I appreciate all the support and love for Marshall. He is such a good dog and really loveable.

Here is an egg video but just like a child he made a liar out of me and smashed his egg right away. Usually he carries it out to the yard and then back onto patio or deck to smash.
