Who called the snack police? Not me!
I KNOW! I would have to hide Comet's donuts if you can over!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Sammy had a great night from what I heard. Lots of playing, hopping, and talking. When I awoke this morning he was cheerful and wanting to have fun. He is feeling better than before the amputation. I wonder how long his leg was hurting him before I saw the limp? He is back to being charming and adorable, I am so happy for my favorite boy!

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
Its good that the chemo hasn't kept him down! Playing and being goofy is great news!!! Yay for Sammy!

Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog

Thanks for the great update! We are so very glad to hear that he has turned a corner and we are all praying the it is a steady climb from here. Being one who pushes the Ice Cream, I would have to say that I would NOT do any milk products until the chemotherapy is complete. There is just too much of a possibility that it could sour in an already touchy stomach. However, Miss Cherry did like her Vanilla flavored Soy Milk. Soy should not sour like dairy products. She did not like the "Light" version with artificial sweatener as much and considering that she really needed the calories, that was just find with me. Also, you could get some Ensure or the Wal-Mart version of the Ensure (Equate) just in case. Cherry found that full strength Ensure was too strong and we had to mix it with the Soy Milk, but this will help with real nutrition if necessary. Last on this quick list, Hill's Hypoallergenic Treats. They were sent by Cherry's breeder just after she finished her chemotherapy and she loved them. They also were one of the very few things that Magic (krispikritter) ate during his last few weeks. We affectionately refer to them as Cherry's Magic Biscuits as a play on the names, but do not underestimate just how much they love them. Also, by being hypoallergenic, they should not cause any complications. However, the are supposed to be distributed through vet's offices or retailers that have vet connections like PetSmart.
Hope this helps.
Spirit Cherry's Dad
Well Cherry's Dad beat me to it!!!! Cherry's Magic Biscuits were sometimes the ONLY thing Magic would eat and it is so weird ... they make another biscuit that is just a treat biscuit...I had to give them away, he just turned up his nose. We went through a lot of stuff trying to get food down...I'm sure the people at my local grocery store thought I was having a barbecue a night...for the last couple of weeks the only thing consistently getting eaten was tri tip...so if I discovered he was STILL eating it (I can't tell you the amount of stuff I ran out and bought because he ate it one day, only to have him turn up his nose the next day.....I gave away a LOT of stuff!!) I raced over to the store and filled my basket and would feed him chunks just as many as he would eat, as often as I passed the fridge. But those biscuits strangely enough remained a favorite, even as one by one he stopped eating some of his other "favorites"
In Magic's case tho since he only had two regular in office chemos and the one I did for a week at home (experimental), it probably wasn't the chemo affecting his appetite, but the cancer as it ate him faster than we could fight it.
I also was able to get him to eat chunks of cooked chicken ... I would get a chicken at the deli at the store already cooked (it is what I lived on mostly) and it was hot when I got home so I'd rip off as much as he would eat and he seemed to like that. Cook regular chicken or pieces or chunks? Nope. Meals also became an all day what he would eat when he would eat it affair....I think for the last six weeks or so (we didn't have that long, you'd think I would remember exactly) dinner stopped being in the bowl or consisting of any type of regular dog food.
Good luck!!!
Thanks guys, I will remember that for our next chemo session. Today is CBC day. We will be checking his blood count for white cells, etc. I just have to say he is doing soooo well.
Last night he was bouncing, (literally) while he waited for me to give him the ball! He loves the ball, he took it and gave me a crazy white eyed I am gonna keel ya look, and then hopped all over in the house growling at his ball! After some play time, he talked and growled, and smiled his full on, all teeth showing, smile. I haven't seen that since before his diagnosis. Oh my gosh, I have so missed his smile. I have never been able to photograph it, because everytime he see's the camera he stops.
It is a mission of mine to get a picture of the perfectly wonderful Sammy smile~
I will update the blog after we get back from the vets this morning. Enjoy the pretty fall day!
