Roxy hasn't been doing so well lately, especially at night.

She is acting like she is in pain (like when she was recovering from her amputation, only she is not recovering from a surgery right now) -- she is up all night being restless, trying to get comfortable, panting, and occasionally wincing. Her breath has been smelling a lot worse but I can't tell if it's just because she is panting more. Her breathing is often laboured, and quick. She is refusing to eat, and I am lucky if I can get half of what she needs into her.

We have a vet appointment on Wednesday - she was scheduled for chemo, but I emailed them to suggest we do x-rays, and I am also going to suggest that we stop chemo and go the pain management route at this point.

Just thought I'd update you guys... Please keep Roxy in your thoughts, I am hoping this is just a bump in the road, but I am bracing for the worst.

Roxy is most certainly in my thoughts, as are you. I wish there was something we could do to make it better for both of you. Lots of hugs - Heather & Barret

Barret was diagnosed with Hemangiopericytoma May 16, 2013. Front left leg/scapula/pectoral muscle was amputated on June 11, 2013 and we've never looked back. Follow our story on http://barret.t.....pawds.com/ and read my column on That Pet Blog

Oh Mica, I know it must have been difficult to write this update but thank you for letting us know. That way all of us can send our magic juju your way and hopefully it will help. I'm glad you have an appointment on Wednesday to talk about pain management , it sounds like that might be the best route at this point. We are thinking of you, please keep us posted.

I am so sorry that Roxy is having a difficult time.  Please know that we are all behind you supporting you in spirit.  I hope some pain management will do her good.  Hang in there.

Adelaide is a young tripawd Husky, from an injury.  Her amp was on 10/1/12.  She has 4 sisters, Aissa (a senior border collie/chow), Maggie May (a puppy Great Pyrenees), Mathilde and Morrigan and 1 baby brother, Bagheera.  We are all watched over by our angel Brendol, who was dx with OSA 1/30/13, amp on 2/6/13, and left us on 8/20/13.

You better believe that sweet Roxy AND you are in our thoughts. And We do appreciate the update because there IS a lot of power in our collective energies we can send across the "air waves"!

As everyone k kws....a d this is a fact....this jour ey is full of ups and downs and bumps in tne road, etc. She may be starting more of an up and down cycle whic will become the new normal and, eventually, a little less scarey. "m SURE the vet can dip into his magic bag of tricks and pull out some good stuff to help Roxy.

Prednisone will defi itely help the appetite and help with any inflammation interferng with her breathing.

Roxy, close your ears......come on now, put those pretty little aws over your sweet ears! Good! Now hold it! Mica, I don't want to hurt Roxy's feelings, but she IS "older" and horrible, stinky breath goes paw and paw with "maturity". Okay Roxy, you can open up yur ears now! ROXY! Sorry, I forgot I had to yell! Good girl!clap

Lots and lots of hugs to you and Roxy! Stay present in the moment! Let NOTHING rob you of your ti e together! You will ALL feel better after the vet appoi tment.

Sending you love, calm and tripawd energy!

Sally and Happy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

In your heart, where I belong.

Mica,

What does Roxy's breath smell like? Since she's older, you may want to ask the vet if he thinks it could be related to kidney function. That comes with a unique breath odor that he can probably identify on the spot if it's that. A blood test can inform on a lot of things, too.

Like everyone else, I will be crossing fingers and making Evelyn cross her paws and her eyes for Wednesday. Let us know as soon as you know what is going on.

I feel like I am seeing ulcers at every turn...but is she on any stomach meds? We had bleeding ulcers a few weeks ago, and they manifested in all sorts of unpleasant things.

Regardless, you guys will be in our "good juju and vibes" roll call this week <3

The best way I can describe it is it kind of smells like garbage...

I mentioned it in my email to the vet so they are going to check things out on Wednesday. Thanks for the tip!

She is on an appetite stimulant (Mirtazapine) and a new anti-inflammatory (Deramaxx).

Perhaps it's a stomach/GI thing?
