YEAH, MAJOR KUDOS! That is not in my wheelhouse and luckily we're only 25 minutes away from the hospital!
Pup has even been lying on his "bad" side, which is still a no-no, but I'm glad to see that it's not causing any pain! He even started to bark a bit when someone was near our door (all bark, no bite, he licks everyone who comes through the door)... but he hadn't barked at noise by the door in nearly 3 weeks. I'm becoming much more optimistic!
I'm a single mom this weekend, while Barrett is in Mexico for his bachelor party, so I hope puppy has a really good weekend!

Yeah for barking!! I celebrated, too when Pofi first was feeling well enough to bark at dog passersby! Really, every time he is vocal and sassy, I celebrate!
I hope Barrett can enjoy his bachelor party more with these good updates from the home front. And I hope the home team has a very, very good weekend!

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
I just wanted to share a few photos before I get back to work 😉
Here's Oliver's tie over bandage (and thank goodness I don't have to change it):

These are more graphic, as they show his infection site. The first is when we took him to urgent care on Sunday. The second is when he was getting his bandage changed on Tuesday. Hopefully, they'll take another today, so I can see the progress.
Oh holy moly that's gnarly. You guys, really, if there were a Tripawd Gold Medal, you'd get it. I'd drive an hour to have a vet change that bandage for sure.

Poor little guy. Those pictures are horrible, but I can see some improvement. I remember that it took almost a month before Otis started barking again when someone came to the door. It was almost like he felt he couldn't properly defend the house and had to hide. It was great when he started being vocal again!
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
Holy moly, like Jerry said. I couldn't log in on my phone earlier, but could see the pictures from my e-mail alert and I gasped aloud! I truly was not grasping how extensive the damaged area was. But the improvement is crystal clear, too, from Sunday to Tuesday.
I trust and hope it is all looking even better today!

He didn't get quite as much sedation today, so he was wagging his tail and very happy to see me when I went to get him today! They said some of the skin may slough off like a sun burn, there's definitely a deep cut in there that's nasty, but the picture the tech showed me today looked much better. He had it on his phone, and I forgot to ask for it, but I will definitely get an update when we go to get the bandage changed next--hopefully Monday! He was even great in the car. As I said earlier, I had my friend help me out, but we probably didn't even need her to. He was an angel, just laid down in the backseat with me. He's sleeping next to me now... he had half of his dinner even! Last time we brought him home, he threw up 5 times (once on my work laptop--I actually was hoping it would break, but alas, that hunk of junk survived). I'm thrilled that he's doing so well!
that is so awesome to hear. I just looked at those pictures poor Ollie.
I am glad he is now on the upward swing of things

Wow, Oliver! So, I think where the sutures are looks really good. Some of the seroma part looks ok ... it looks clean. The edges look ok .. it looks like the swelling is decreasing. If he'll let you, I would say try to massage around the area if you can - that will increase the blood flow to the area which will help to increase healing. The fact that he will lay on that side is probably a good thing - I would think that it means it's not nearly as painful as it was. Small steps! You definitely have been through the wringer on this one! Once he's feeling up to it, Oliver deserves a steak! (and you guys deserve a night out )
