smileyThanks guys-at day 9 and overall she is doing well.  We have noticed one odd thing that has happened a couple of times and we were wondering if anyone else has seen this.

2 or 3 times when she has been hanging out outside, she suddenly wants to run into the house and she is shaking-very much like shivering if you were very cold-she runs to her bed and lays there for a while-very quiet.

We wonder if it could be some pain coming through as the Tramadol is wearing off-not really sure.

I'd appreciate any input.

Hmmm...what exactly is she doing outside? How far away from the house is she? Are there other critters hanging out? Does it only happen when she's outside.

It might be pain but it's hard to tell. Make a note of her symptoms and when they happen and then try to piece it together from there.

Glad to hear she's doing well otherwise!

For quite awhile, not often though, Hapy Hannah would jumpup and look at her vutt as though something bit her.....seh would try to "move away fromit". IThe "reaction" only lasted maybe 30 seconds or so. She also would kind of pin her ears back as though hurting, maybe a little scared. I would just rub her "stump" and just love on her til she was "all better"

Does any of this sound like what Cassie's experiencing?

In Hapy Hannah's case, I think it's just a sharp nerve pain twitching around somewhere.

Really glad that Cassie's haing a good overall recovery. And it's still sooooo early...and it only gets bette!

Hugs and love!

Could be phantom pain ?  Talk to your vet about Gabeptain  it might help.  Sassy wasn't on it so I can't talk about the drug.

Thanks guys-she has been on Gabapentin for exactly the reason you mention-concern over phantom pain .  She was basically hanging out-lying down both times as far as I know (my wife has witnessed the occurrences).   There doesn't seem to be any negative effects otherwise so far-just seems to shiver for a while.

I took her this morning to visit her doggy daycare people to see how she would react to going back-she was so happy to see them and they were so surprised how well she is doing and they are happy to have her back.   Staples come out tomorrow.smiley
