oh my gosh he is SO HANDSOME!!

Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. Bad news, the incision is infected.  Took him in last night and they kept him overnight..  We are besides ourselves.  We can't get out hands on any more money for about 5 days :(

Drats! Why did they keep him? What kind of meds is he getting? Did they culture it? I'm so sorry. Hang in there, this isn't all that uncommon. It sucks but it's nothing that you both can't deal with and overcome. Sorry about the financial situation, let your vet know and ask if they will work out payment arrangements. {{{{hugs}}}}

They are culturing it. He was also dehydrated.  They flushed the wound this morning and I can take him home after work.  They are working with us on the financial stuff.  THANK HEAVENS!!!

OH good, glad they're being through, he's going home and everything is working out. Do your best to breathe, this will all be a thing of the past soon enough!

Now you see why we call this recovery "up and down" and a roller coaster ride!!

As Jerry said, not uncommon...the infection nor the dehydration...but scary and frustrating none the less!! So glad he's coming home!!! He'll feel much better being hydrated and having that infection on the mend.

It sooooooo hard to be patient during the "nuances" of recovery. This shall pass and you'll soon see all the benefits of proceeding with amputation.

Hang in there! You are doing great!! It's amazing how strong we can be when it comes to putting on a brave front for our dogs....guess we learned how to do that from them!!!

Sending lots of hugs!

PS...My Happy Hannah, for whatever reason, dide want to drink water for several weeks after surgery! After trying chicken broth, etc., I finally found a scoop of ICE CREAM swirled in the water did the n trick! Yeah, she miled that for all it was worth!

I'm actually more concerned that he was dehydrated.  He had a full bowl of water in with him.  I'm wondering if the raised water dish is a bit too high for him to reach comfortably.  He's not had a problem with it before.

Seriously!!!  He was doing great.  I still cringe at seeing the missing leg but he's bound and determined to not let it slow him down.   I have stuff I can try with him.  He's a bit of a piggy so broth should do the trick.

Changing the dressing requires 3 hands.  One to hold the dressing in place and 2 to apply the sticky stuff to hold the gauze sponges in place.  He's doing better though!!!
