Doc tripped Marshall on Monday and he fell down the deck stairs. Talk about heartbreaking. We thought that he was ok but yesterday we noticed he was trying not to bear weight on his right back leg. He went to the Vet this morning and she thinks it's a partial ACL tear and the lump in his stomach is hard and a tumor. I don't think that we will have them send it out to find out what kind bc there isn't much we can do at this point. This nightmare for him keeps getting worse.

Hard to believe these things are hallening...now especially. Just darn awful a d rotten!

Yeah, as far as the lump on his stomach I wouldn't worry about it at this point. It may, or may NOT be anything. And even if it is it may not cause any real
problems for a long time. Marshall isn't concerned about that thing in the least snd it isn't bothering him at all.

As far as the leg injury though, that can at least get better with some rest and some meds. Is he opposed to help using a sling or a harness for awhile? It may be worse for a day ot two if the vet had to move it around and stuff.

He's already on Pred, right? So that should help with any inflammation.

I know this is another kick in the gut, but Marshall will handle this like the miracle champ that he is.

Sending lots of love to all...

Well that Doc isn't living up to his name. Darn it anyway. I don't know Marshall's story very well but have seen the photos and it's clear he's well loved and is very loving himself. I have a special fondness for labs because they have such a joy for life. Sending you positive thoughts for Marshall's healing.

He gets around ok which is why it took so many days for me to realize how badly he was injured. He hides things so well. He runs on the leg. As far as the tumor in his stomach im assuming it's not the only one in there. I ask my husband though what are we doing. He still wants food bc he's marshall and on prednisone and he still wags at times but I just don't see the point of keeping him going like this. This isn't the marshall that he was. I don't know

Ohhhh no. I'm really, really sorry. I know those emotions and even went through that situation (Jerry also fell down stairs when the cancer got to be too much and it was very, very traumatizing for all of us). It's clear how much you love Marshall and you are doing so much to help him have a good quality of life. Have you had a heart-to-heart with him to see how he feels? I know it sounds kinda nutty but if you can find some quiet time alone and just be present with him, talk to him, ask him how he feels. It's surprising but they do give us the answers, we just have to train our brains to hear their language.

We're thinking of you and sending lots of hugs to the pack. Keep us posted OK?

For us humans this is such an agonizing time...and for our dogs it's just an "is" without any worries nor fear

Like Jerry said, have some quiet time with Marshall and see if you can "feel" what his energy is conveying. Try and free yourself of your "humanness" and just let your soul merge with Marshall's soul and "listen". Have the "conversation " several times over many days.

You and your husband are doing a valiant job of focusing on Marshall's quality and maintaining it for as long as you can. The prednisone, although mostly palliative, is doing its job. You're doing a good job of processing and evaluating. And that's what we as humans do. All along Marshall is just being dog! Try and remember that.....none of these "uncertainties" are bothering Marshall at all!

It may be that, even though we question, "what's the point" during the palliative care of the journey...it may be as simple as Marshall is still completing his Soul's purpose and is perfectly willing to hang around awhile to do that!

We are all here and surrounding you with love,

Thanks I will have the talk with him and I will ask my husband to as well. I feel like we're being cruel but I also don't want to rob him of any good time. It seems like all he likes to do is eat now. He still likes to be pet but his tail wags less and less. I want to rewind time

I think we all would rewind time if we could so we could be with our precious fur kids again.

Hang in there...you're doing all you can for Marshall.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
