Hi everyone,
My soul dog Max (10 year old Black Lab) recently underwent a forelimb amputation for suspected soft tissue sarcoma. Our family was feeling great because we were assured the surgery was essentially curative given the localized nature of STS. Unfortunately, we got the devastating news yesterday that it is in fact osteosarcoma.
As we switch gears and attempt to do all in our power to extend his life while keeping it a life worth living with limited pain or discomfort, I stumbled upon a vaccine study that I wanted to share because I haven’t seen it on this forum (I have seen the listeria based vaccine and Elias). This vaccine came out of Yale and they now have clinics in multiple states offering the vaccine. I am trying to enroll Max at one of the two Virginia locations since we are located in Maryland. If you go to the ccralliance.org website, you can find the locations and their contact info. The vaccine has made lung Mets disappear in some (not all!) dogs, giving them a few more years of life in some cases.
I am not getting my hopes up per se, but I think this is worth a try. I believe it is free excluding costs of scans and bloodwork during intake.
love to all your dogs (and kitties!)
Hello and welcome. Your future posts will not require moderation. I am so sorry to hear about Max's diagnosis. I am going to include the link to the topic about this. For right now I am leaving this here but your post maybe moved to the topic that is already started under Tips and Resources here : https://tripawd.....us-states/
Keep us informed if you get Max enrolled into the study

Thanks for pointing Megan to that topic, Michelle!
Megan we are sorry you and Max are dealing with osteosarcoma. We are here to help however we can. Please feel free to ask any questions you'd like, and know that you are not alone.
Oh you also might want to check out our immunotherapy articles and podcasts. We don't have any about the Yale vaccine yet but these should give you some additional background on how the treatment can work:
