Spirit completed her last carboplatin on Tuesday and is scheduled to be seen on Monday for consult and administration of Aratana vaccine.

She had an xray about 3 weeks ago... unfortunately,  for the study the xray has to be read by a radiologist  and performed within 2 weeks of consult.  They repeated  her xray at her chemo visit on Tuesday  and I was so excited because it looked clear. However, the radiologist reported a change noted at 4th rib. No pulmonary metastases.  My oncologist  looked at the film again and said now that he pointed it out, she could see it and it was subtle. She reviewed the prior xray (the one from 3 weeks ago) and said the area noted was also there then, although the radiologist who read that one , didn't report  it as a finding.

She has had 2 other xrays.  One mid March and one a week before she was diagnosed. I'm trying to get ahold of the xray done in March..(done out of state )... the one before diagnosis was not great quality ...maybe there was a change then...but hard to tell.....

This now throws into serious doubt whether we can participate in the study .  Sooooooo.. believe I heard it mentioned here before that there are clinics giving off protocol. Anyone have names of those clinics?

Carrie try not to panic, I've known of one other dog where the radiographs showed something questionable and then after a few opinions, the dog was given the green light for the vaccine.

If you do need to go off-study, you can call Aratana’s Customer Care team to find a location near you: 1-844-ARATANA (272-8262).

Thanks Jerry. It was pretty unexpected and shocking. Since they didn't cancel our appointment, I'm going anyway.  I want to meet with the oncologist and discuss it in person  to see what our options might be.

Yeah, seems to me since there  is so much uncertainty  in the xrays, Spirit  should still be able to participate...one way or another!

My Happy Hannah had something  "questionable" on her xray they took while she was doing her Carboplarin rounds.   Different opinions as to whether it was a met, or just a little spot maybe showing up because she was eight years old, or shadow,....yeah, that vague!.   Anyway, we proceeded with all the rounds (four) and she and I shared a glorious bonus time of over a year and two months.

Keep us  updated.  Sending  all sorts of pawsitive energy your way!

Hugs

I am wondering what has happened with Spirit. My 6 yo greyhound is about to have his third carboplatin and I am planning to go forward with the vaccine. My vet is giving me a choice of being inside or outside of the study. I would appreciate any information or thoughts others can share about
