Bob makes a good point about the small frequent meals.  If Trouble waits too long in the morning to eat breakfast, she too will barf bright yellow bile.  This isn't a since the cancer thing, this has been all her life.  It does help to keep the portions smaller and not let the tummy get empty.

Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul.  Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

My prayers are with you and Nova.  It is so hard not to worry about our babies.  I hope Nova feels better real soon and a trip to the vet won't be necessary.

I hope Nova had a better day today! Life would be so much easier if we could put on our dogs one of those collars like in the movie "Up" that would let them speak, so they could tell us exactly how they feel.

Our paws are crossed for you …

Our toes and fingers are crossed for Queen Nova.  I know what you mean about not being able to tell, because Nova is generally a lazy dog.  Opie is too and many times Joe and I think he is not himself, but it is so hard to tell with a lazy dog.  We used to worry about him even when he was a pup because he was soooo laid back.  We will be thinking about you and Nova tomorrow and hope the news is good.  Maybe it's just a harmless doggy virusUgh.  Nancy (Opie's mom)

Lots of good thoughts and prayers coming your way - hopefully this is just an off weekend for Nova and she will be back to her normal couch potato self very soon, greeting you at the door. We are keeping our paws crossed 🙂

My sweet golden Mackenzie.  She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2  although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home.  She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009.  She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes.  I love you Mackenzie!

Thank you all so much for all your pawsitive thoughts, prayers, and good wishes for the Queen.  They are working. This morning I was at home until around noon and she was awake all morning and enthusiastically de-stuffing her giant stuffed Bernese Mountain Dog, and went out for a couple short romps in the snow (another snow day here again), licked some icicles, etc.  I got home from school tonight around 8 and she greeted me at the door, and did the ol' bury her head in my chest thing, so life is good. Turned down her dinner at first, but now just hopped up to her dish and started to pick at it. Just finished the bowl. YAY!  Sometimes she gets picky about the order of things. We'll see how the night goes, she usually wakes me up a few times each night. I am home all day tomorrow, so I am going to decide then if I am going to call the vet to do x-rays. If she still seems ok, then I will probably put it off.

Wow, Cherry really knew how to puke with class!  Thanks Bob, you really made me laugh. My Aunt and Uncle used to have a Scottie that would ask to puke and he would allow someone to hold him over a toilet. The Queen prefers to puke in comfort, on carpet (the lighter the better), throw rugs (the more expensive the better), always right next to you (at your feet if she can), on beds (particularly human beds), stuffed animals, and such, like she wants comfort or something. Just like a kid!  But when a Great Dane pukes it ain't pretty, remember, she's 150 lbs. so it's like an adult hurled. YUCK.  I know a lot of you have dogs that puke all the time, but I can count the number of times Nova has barfed in her life on two hands.  The last time was when she was force-fed glycerin to get her eye pressures down for her glaucoma, and the time before was when she bloated a few years back and we had to do a gastropexy. She's puked so few times I practically log it on the calendar.  So you can understand why I freak out over it. As you can see from all the snacks she can tolerate, she normally has a cast-iron stomach!

Oh well, time to get my carpet cleaner out and work on that bile stain a little more. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Thanks again everyone.  I love having this support group!

Have you used Nature's Miracle? Jack is a chronic puker, and Nature's Miracle is the only stuff I've found that gets the stain out.  Our carpet cleaner said not to use it, but it worked better than whatever the professional used :P   The orange scented is my favorite.  Glad to hear Nova is doing better!

Sue,

I just logged on tonight and I cringed when I saw your post.............Nova is in my prayers and so are you!!  I always tell myself not to get ahead of yourself....wait to see what is going on, because our minds can go crazy!

Paris was always happy when she vomited or had diarrhea....that meant I would make her boiled chicken and rice and she loved it!!  But I agree with most she never made it out the door!!  God bless Miss Cherry!!

I will be keeping you and Nova close in my heart and thoughts and prayers,

Ginny & Angel Paris

"God save the queen"

Grateful for every moment we had with Paris…..no regrets!

Honoring her life by opening our hearts & home to Addy!
