Awesome news!  Not usually glad for a non-diagnosis, but around here we love it.

Son of a......just got logged out and forgot to screenshot!!!

Just want to share one little snippet of my conversation when trying to talk her off the edge. And let me tell ya', Paula was determined to stay on the edge! I was reflecting back to her her comments about Nitro feeling well, eating just fine, not throwing up, etc. All good signs. She said she was even feeding him extra bits of kibble off and on just to make sure he still had a good appetite. I mentioned that IF he did throw up, not to think the worst! It woukd be because of all the extra food she was giving him to "test" his appetite.

Sure enough, I have an email awaiting me this morning she had written at 1:30 a.m....yep...Nitro just threw up! Pretty sure she spent all night zapping herself with that rubber band!

Sleep well tonight Paula! I know you'll have a big grin on your face! All of us sure will! Sooooooo happy!!!winker

Oh Paula... big sigh of relief! This is very good news and I am glad Sally was able to help! We all need the helpline - no matter where we are in this journey and I am SO grateful we have it available! Like the airlines always say, put your own oxygen mask first before you help others ... let's take care of ourselves so we can better help others!

I knew Nitro would be great! He's a fighter!!! And double-yay for NO METS!!!!

Hugs!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

So to follow-up;

Nitro saw his chiro vet today (Dr. Patty Glover); she checked him out good to make sure his spine/vertebra weren't the reason for the inontinence. All was good, so we are going to try the herbs "Red Front Door" to see if they can give him some bladder relief. I haven't researched this herb yet - kind of a goofy name - so I don't know anything about it.

So between the Baytril and the herbs, hopefully he can get some relief. Again, thanks for all the prayers and positive thoughts, we love you guys!

So I have another update on the incontinence saga...

I emailed his chiro vet about the herbs she's prescribing for the wetting - Red Front Door. I couldn't find any info on the internet about it and I was curious what it does/how it helps. This is what she said:

Excellent questions Paula,
This herb formula descends from the classical formula Xiao Ji Yin Zi.  In chinese medicine these herbs specifically work to Clear Heat and Damp and stop hemorrhage.  The heat and the damp cause the dribbling and the hemorrhage isn't some huge bleed, but the irritation of the vessels in the bladder that cause the red blood cells to show up on his UA.

From a traditional symptom standpoint these herbs work to treat cystitis (which can be accompanied by blood in the urine or hemorrhage of the little vessels in the bladder which puts the blood in the urine - hence the easier to pronounce name Red (blood) Front Door (bladder/urinary tract in TCM), frequent urination, dribbling and incontinence.
Make sense?
Dr Patty
I thought others might be interested, in case they have similar issues. We haven't received them in the mail yet, but I'll be sure to let everyone know how it goes. Also, last night was what I consider a "victory" in our on-going battle. He didn't ask to go out even once overnight (he had been getting us up 2-4 x a night); when he got up in the morning, as I was taking off the diaper (it was dry) the urine shot out of him like a hose (on our bed). Not sure what to make of that, but I think it's a step in the direction of dryness.

Please keep us posted. I'm quite interested to see if the herbs help! Chinese/Eastern medicine often seems able to better treat some conditions and I hope it works well for Nitro. 🙂

Wow, I feel bad, I am just reading this.  I'm behind.  Travel for work puts a damper on things.  So first, everyone on this site is in my daily prayers.  Paula, let me share, Patches has been wetting her bed semi-frequently.  We think it's either a side effect of the Palladia or just that she's sleeping like a boulder and hears/feels NOTHING.  Otherwise the girl is happy and healthy.  It could just be nothing, age......I hope he's feeling well no matter WHAT.

This week we are going to begin giving her the CBD supplements.  Maybe that will help.  I will keep everyone posted on how she does.

No matter WHAT........if you need an ear, a hug, whatever......I'm here.  Hug and kiss Nitro for us and keep breathing.  I know exactly how you feel.  I'm here.

xoxo

Hi Debbie, thanks for sharing.....everyone's support is so needed and welcome. Nitro does seem to be slowly getting better, which is awesome since he sleeps in OUR bed! And his wetting isn't just little dribbles, its like the dam has broken. The last couple of nites his diaper was dry, but when I took it off it was like a hose opened up - like he couldn't stop it. My sister says its the same with boy babies, when the air hits the you-know-what, look out, her it comes. I'm hopeful the herbs will be an added weapon and we can go back to "nornal". Boy, the saying "when you have your health, you have it all" is so true, for humans and animals.

thanks again

Keep us posted Paula.  I hope he's doing better.  He really is such a handsome boy.  I just KNOW Patches would be batting her little white eyelashes at him.
