Fantastic!
No one that I know on here has had any good experiences on tramadol so that's why I didn't know if it was the gabapentin. But if you figured it out - great!
All those meds really mess up their minds! I think that is the scariest part from what everyone has said here.

She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Whew! It's good to hear she's back to her old self. Keep it up guys, you're doing GREAT!

Glad to hear Pez is doing better. Trouble is able to take low dose Tramadol without any pink elephant effects. I give it to her randomly if she acts achy. It takes some trial and error to get a routine you know will work for you and Pez. Recovery is no fun, but Pez will be good as new in no time.

Aww Pez, I'm sorry. We've been thinking about you.
Ok, let me just say that osteosarcoma isn't a death sentence. I beat the odds and lasted much farther than any "statistics" said I would And there are dogs who have gone longer than me! So please don't let this get you too down. I know it's hard, but stay pawsitive, it means everything to us dawgs.
Hugs coming your way.

Okay, I might be a dork, but I was actually relieved when I got the osteosarcoma diagnosis. I got it a week after the amputation and I would have been livid (a kind word to use on a family forum ) had it been one of the thousand fatty tumor lumps all over his body.
Don't mean to make light of the situation, it's still cancer, but that was my experience receiving the news.

Hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to give an update on PEZ. She's going through recovery and physical therapy fairly well. The surgical area healed up nicely with no infection. PEZ is having a tough time walking/balancing on the front left leg, but she's getting around. We've started PEZ on metronomic chemotherapy (oral cyclophosphamide, piroxicam and Doxycycline) in addition to her Tramadol for pain. We'll be getting blood work done in about a week or two to see how she is doing. More to come...
Thanks.
Very nice update! It sounds like Pez is doing pretty darned good!

Thanks for the update, great to hear from you and Pez! Be sure to review our video interview with CARE for lots of tips about the importance of exercises and stretching for tripawds, and Maggie's core exercise video for advice about unstable surface work.

Great update. A discussion you may want to have with the vet is the advantage/disadvantage of adding Rimadyl to the mix. It makes a world of difference in the way Trouble gets around when she's having arthritis pain. Pez's difficulty balancing could have something to do with joint pain. It's a question worth exploring in my book.

Thanks for the great news! We always love to hear it!
If you haven't already seen this in the forums, Chloe and I are doing a K9 Walk for Cancer and we would be honored to add Pez's name to the back of our shirt! If you leave a comment in the forum below before Friday it will make it on the shirt that will be FOR SALE SOON on the tripawd website! This goes for anyone else reading this! You can read about the update on my forum.

Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
Thank you all for the information on the exercising, stretching, Rimadyl and the K9 walk.
One medication I forgot to mention was Alendronate Sodium tablets (Bisphosphonate), 35mg a day. This is in addition to all her supplements.
PEZ has on several occasions fallen face first while walking outside in the yard… this is very hard to watch. Inside, PEZ's back legs tend to slide whenever she steps off of any carpet runners and onto the hardwood (like walking on ice). We have mostly hardwood, tile and marble flooring in our house so PEZ has a heck of a time walking if it's not on a carpeted surface.
We have put down several carpet runners to and from the family room and laundry room door. I'll sometimes carry her
from the family room to go outside so she can go to the bathroom and then back in. I'll definitely check out the exercise and stretching pages.
Again, thanks for everything and all the good advise.

Hi everyone...
I have a concern and wanted to run it by everyone. PEZ has been having difficulty walking on her front leg without falling. Her front leg has a tendency of folding over at the wrist area and she falls face first into the grass or on the floor... very upsetting. Does anyone have any suggestions on either supporting the wrist area or what could be causing this issue? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.
