Hi everyone,
Quick update, Bender had a few rough nights this week but is still eating and going to the washroom. His breathing gets worse during the evenings and improves in the morning. He also lost a significant amount of weight.
The vet provided us with a portable oxygen unit to help with the bad episodes.
I have questioned the diagnosis based on other symptoms (discharge from eye, sore on rear end, improved breathing followed by laboured breathing). I asked the vet to test for blastomycosis and we are waiting on the result.
I will keep everyone posted.
Thanks for the pupdate, I'm glad to hear he is staying strong. This is such a hard part of the journey. How are you doing with all of this?
Your advocacy for Bender is spectacular, we are so proud of you! Let us know what the result of the test says.

It hasn't been easy. I hate leaving for work each morning. I wish I could spend every minute with him right now.
I just hope he isn't in pain and/or suffering. He has bursts of energy and will get his bone to play. He can't play long and lays down a lot but I can tell he isn't ready to give up yet.
Yeah that is so tough, I'm so sorry. Every second you are away I'm sure you are thinking about him.
By now, you will know in your heart when he is hurting. You've traveled such a long road with him, and created such a bond, your instincts are good, you can read him better than ever.
Savor each moment you are together, and spoil that boy rotten. This is a difficult part of the journey, and it seems that you are staying as strong as he is. He has taught you well.

Had to look up blastomycopsis. Sounds like it certainly could be a possibility! Good job of doing your research.
I love that your Vet is proactive enough to provide supplemental oxygen as needed. Certainly helps with humans, so it should help Bender😎
I remember I was obsessed with focusing on her breathing pattern, counting the number pf breaths per minute, etc. during the this phase of Happy Hannah's journey. I finally snapped out of it and realized sometimes her breathing would be easier than others. And that was the new norm.
Sounds like Bender still has plenty of "Bender Stubborn BullDog Spirit" in his cute self. It doesn't sound like there is any real pain involved. As I'm sure we've mentioned. tiring easily isn't painful.
Now, we know you have plenty on uour platd, HOWEVER, we still need our Bender photo fix!😁😁
Extra higs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
PS Remember, Bender knows NOTHING of your human worries. So of you stayed home and hovered over him 24/7, he would think you had lost your mind. Besides, I have a feeling Bender loves his uninterrupted nap time!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Hi sweetie 🌸
You are the best pawrent Bender could dream of having, I mean it💓
This is a very difficult part of the journey but as Sally says tiring easily is not painful.
Bender knows when to take it easy and when to get his bone to play.
He is enjoying his life with his family, I'm sure you worry when you aren't at home but during his life he had to be on his own when you are working so there is no added stress for him there.
It's all normal for Bender.
Just keep spoiling him and cuddling with your gorgeous boy, that is all he needs to be deliriously happy 💓
Sending you an avalanche of kisses and a cloud of bone shaped cuddles for your boy 😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹
