He doesn't do well with any of the narcotics.  Even with his amputation we had to stop tramadol after the first night.

It has been 48 hours since his last dose of metacam, I am going to start the pred tonight. I don't want to see him slide further into the abyss.

Fingers crossed that it works.

So glad to hear you’re starting cortisone.

I really wish it will do as well for him as it did for my Eurydice 🐮

Give it a day or two and you should see big improvement, fingers crossed.

Will be checking for your updates.

Hugs and cuddles 😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)

Paws crossed for good results.  If I recall, when I've  had various dogs in Pred for vaiius reasons, sometimes  the results weren't  always immediate.  So ifnit takes three or four days to see a perkier Bender.  I remember  my Vet told me that, while Prednisone  can be a "bad" drug sometimes, there comes a time when it can be a miracle drug too!!

What dose and frequency is he on?   How much does handsome  weigh?

Extra hugs❤

First night on pred was a 180 turn around from the night before. Bender ate willingly and slept through the night (for the most part).

He currently weights 48 LBS and takes 25mg of pred per day for the first 7 days. We may back off the dose after that .

Praying he avoids any major side effects.

YAAAAAAAAAAY  FOR BENDER!!!!!!    BEST NEWS EVVVVVER!!!!!!😁😁😁😁😁😁😁SOOOOO GLAD TO READ THIS!!!

And to see it work so quickly is absolutely  wonderful!!!  Yes indeedy, Prednisone  can be a realky GOOD drug sometimes. .........a MIRACLE  drug!

Through the years when I've  had to use this for my dogs, and sometimes  for extended  periods of time and  at maximum  dose, I've not ever had any bad side effects.  The most I ever saw was thirst and peeing more.  And good appetite  too! Hopefully  Bender will be free of any side effects too!

You are a ROCKSTAR BENDER!!!!!

Hugs

It is working, it is working as it did for Miss Cow, wooohooooooooo 🎉🎉🎉

In my experience this is a totally miraculous drug, I am SO thrilled for you !

And it gets better and better, you’ve got a “new” Bender at home ☺️

I can't thank you folks enough for giving me the confidence to push for prednisone.

The turn around is nothing short of a miracle. I hope this keeps him comfortable for a little while longer.

I don know how one dog can embody so much cuteness and adorableness!!!  Bender sure does have a monopoly on it though!!😁

All you have to do is look at that photo and know all is well in Bender's world😊😊

Ice cream cone for Bender!🍦🍦🍦🍧🍧🍨🍨🍦
