That's wonderful that you were able to see her and she stood up for you...I so hope and pray that you get good news this morning. Sending lots of golden hugs and healing thoughts your way.
Kami
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
This sounds so very difficult for all of you! What a heartache. I am sending healing energy to Kensington and peace to you.
Daisy, 12 years young, had left forelimb amp on 5/19/2010 due to osteosarcoma. She left her body behind and joined the other spirit tripawds on 7/16/2010.
So grateful for each day with her!
Lexi (Daisy's momma)
Hey guys,
It's been a crazy day with mostly ups (yay!!!) and just one recent slide down in the last hour...
We went into to see her again this morning. She was SO much stronger than she was last night. She handled the transfusion well but at that point, we didn't have the results back from the CBCs. When I walked in the room, she jumped right up, huge smile across her face, and nearly knocked me over when I opened her pen. I still can't get over how strong she was - she was ready to go out the door, in the car, and hit the road! She really almost pulled her IVs out - thank goodness for the Ruffwear harness , I was able to hold onto her and stop her from storming the gates, lol. I was able to get her to lay down next to me, but she was alert with her head up the whole time - again, huge smile across her face, and tons of kisses.
Her temp was down to 103 this morning and she ate a whole bowl of food for me. They only let us sit with her for an hour, so when it was time to leave, I was told they would call with the results of the CBCs later this afternoon. When they finally called it was ALL good news! YAY! Platelet count was up to 35,000 from 13,000. White blood cells were up to 2000 from 700 and her hematocrit was up to 26% from 18%. They said if everything continues to trend in the same direction overnight we could hopefully take her home tomorrow. Double YAY!
An hour later the doctor called back and said they decided to run an x-ray on her lungs to check for possible mets. Great news - no signs of any cancer! YAY! Bad news, they saw a questionable spot on her lungs that the radiologist feels could be pneumonia.... She can't catch a break, man! She's still breathing on her own, no oxygen. They'll continue to closely monitor her overnight. They'll run more CBCs and reassess everything in the morning and let us know where she stands. Good news is she's already on antibiotics, so they're hopefully doing their job...
But, that's where we stand at the moment.
I'm sorry it took so long to get this update out there - I wanted to have all the info today so I wouldn't string you along like I did yesterday and then life (my 2 year old) is a demanding mistress.
I'll follow up tomorrow. I'm pretty happy with things overall - I feel even if this is pneumonia, she seemed so strong and no where near as sick as she was yesterday, I think (hope) we're over the worst of it...

Phew! GOOD REPORT!!!! Thanks for the update! Have been thinking of Kensington! Hopefully the pneumonia will pass quickly!

Maggie lost her battle with kidney disease on 8-24-13
Heather and Kensington,
This IS improvement! I will not make lite of any chance of pneumonia, especially after any chemotherapy treatments, but this should be treatable now that you have this diagnosis in hand. We will pray that she has passed the worst and will continue to improve.
Sending Pawsitive Thoughts

Yay! That's the news I've been hoping to hear. I can just picture Kensington trying to bust out of there--reminds me of Daisy after surgery. lol
Healing for Kensington and peace for you will continue to be sent. Seeing everything working out as it should. Then we'll all celebrate with you!

Oh YEAY!!!! Hoppy Dance!!!!
This is terrific news, we're so glad. No need to apologize for just now updating us, uh, you kinda have your paws busy!
Those canine blood transfusions are amazing aren't they? Let's all try to encourage our friends with healthy pups who qualify to become blood donors, so more dogs can bounce back after a scary condition like this.
Hey, after this, pneumonia better watch out, Kensi's gonna kick its butt!
Lotsa love coming your way, and continued prayers and thoughts for a speedy recovery.

Oh what a weight off! I was getting really worried. I know it's not completely over but it's going up!
I not even going to worry about the pneumonia! (Comet had it as a puppy with a collapsed lung and she was fine with the right antibiotic)
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
