Thank you all- I guess I got overly anxious and excited when he came home and started acting normal- the Big Dog just had major survey- give him a break- what was I thinking? Thank you for reminding me that is a an animal and I should not give him human emotions – that's how I feel- not him.
So he's been calm on the ACE- we go back to Vet tonight for stitches check. And to discuss our options…..we may opt for the Neoplasene- less stress on him & us. I can handle puke.
Ok- here's a funny story, last night I put Kenmore's meds in a little dish on the counter when we were waiting for Kenmore's Dad to come home, (2 Clindamycin & 1 Deramaxx). I left the room and then looked in - and one of my catz was licking the little dish. I panicked I thought Maxx, 15 pounder, had eaten the 2 Clindamycin(150mg each!) -I called the Vet. Well, I had just counted the pills and recorded the amounts- turns out that I never put them out- just the Deramax. Maxx just licked that and no harm done. I'm sure the Vet office thinks I'm crazy.
But its all about the Dog at our House, but I must remember those damn catz too!!
See how handsome he is? Hubby posted photo for us!
Aww what a sweetie! And yes, kitties can be pesky! My brother's cat kept trying to play with Chloe when she was recovering and she wouldn't have any of it...
Hope the new meds help!
-Chloe's mom
Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
wow, kenmore is a hotty totty!!! he looks alot like our 'older girl' jane!! we too have a blended family (two dogs, three cats)...seems there's always somebody doing something to somebody elses stuff, that gets that somebody worked up....but what a delight to be in the thick of it!!!
charon & gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Kenmore is indeed a handsome boy! Tell the Hubby to post more pictures.
I bet that gave your vet a laugh. My wife says, it's all about the dog in my house but I must remember that damn husband too. well, I'm just glad we don't have goldfish.
Sending positive thoughts your way
Fortis and Dad
There you are Kenmore! You're a fine looking pup!
Glad to hear the kitty is OK. Yes, pawrents do a lot of absent-minded things when we recover, don't they?
Hope your stitches check went well.

I quote, with permission, Dr W-J, "I am hughely pleased," with his stitches!
Kenmore's entrance at the vet's had 3 of the techs at the front counter and 3 from the back rooms(?) come out to greet him & give him love!
I guess part of my job now is to educate the people about canine amputation. People react in all different ways- some cry, some are curious, some look away. I just smile and tell them -it's ok he's not in pain anymore and he's still with us and we love him and how awesome he is. What do you say?
On schedule to get the stitches removed next week and then, Camping for Thanksgiving! (if Dr oks it)
Thanks for the pawsitivity! Mandy & Kenmore
Kenmores mom, what a great report! And you are absolutely right in what you tell people - its alright! I am amazed at how suddenly we were all thrust into this new and different reality with our furry friends, but also at how well we pawrents and our pets both adapt!
Heres hoping that you guys get the go ahead to go camping and have a blessed Thanksgiving!

the monkeydogs only THINK they have invaded the tripawd state
Pawsome for Kenmore! Holly loves to go the vet because everyone gives her so much affection! And treats! People no longer notice that Holly is missing a leg right away. When they ask, I tell them if she could talk she'd say "who needed that ole leg, anyway!" She's so glad to be done with that pain - never looked back at all!
Hugs,

Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

Hey Mandy,
Good to hear that Kenmore is on the healing track.
Most people didn't notice that Maggie was a tri-pug. She was a rear amp and pretty little. Sometimes people would ask my why she was limping . Many people would do the 'awwww, poor dog' thing. Then they would watch her and change to the 'well, she gets around pretty well' thing. When I would say she lost a leg to cancer it was back to 'awwwww'. I would just say 'look at her- she is happy, healthy, and gets around fine'.
One memorable comment- we went past some people in the park one day and I heard one lady say 'oh how cute, she only has three legs', like it was some sort of accessory I chose for her .
Keep up the good work- I hope you get your camping trip in. We of course will demand pictures!!

Very handsome indeed!!!
I'm glad it's better and the kitty didn't eat the pill! (if you ever worry about that again, just get a teaspoon of peroxide and make them swallow it. It will make them throw up within a few minutes. It will save you the embarrassing phone call to the vets! Comet swallowed a glove once and it worked!)
I'm glad you are feeling better!
At least you guys get good attention without a leg! In my case, people look at Comet and give me a dirty look like I am a terrible person for not "getting that leg fixed"! At least when I'm at the vet's office I catch a break because they think I'm there to get her leg fixed! I even chuckle when I walk into the vets and people waiting in lobby will give a little gasp because they think Comet needs a vet ASAP!
My rescuing a dog with a deformed leg has not brought me "good attention".

She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Kenmore's mom,
I may have left out the part that Comet is growling and lunging at people when we meet them! Some of the dirty looks might be looks of fear!
