We have a 2:30 appointment at the vet. He woke up this morning and he is trying to limp. His back right leg seems to have something wrong with it. I can't find anything, he doesn't yelp; but he also is trying his hardest to not use that leg. Him not yelping though doesn't comfort me much... through all of this he has only shown that he was in pain one time and that was the day after his amputation when he tried to stand up and then fell forward on his incision.
We are up at the cabin, so 2 hours from our vet, hence the few hours until we will get in to see them. Any good thoughts you can send him would be much appreciated. Ugh. We fly out tomorrow for a 10 day trip with him having a dog sitter at the house. this is such a bad time, now I don't want to go!
Jac and Angel Spencer. Spencer was 5.25 years old. He fought a grade 3 fibrosarcoma, started on his shoulder. Left front leg amputated in August 2011. 15 weeks of chemo finished 12/22/11 (mytox and adria). Lung mets found on x-rays 12/28/11. Started carboplatin 1/6/12. Went to Heaven on 2/27/12. I miss him like crazy every day. See his blog here: http://spencer.tripawds.com/

charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Our thoughts are with you! Zeus is one month out from his amp (right front) and for the last couple of days he has had a bit of a "hitch" in his hind leg, so I know how concerning it is for you. Good luck at the vet and please let us know the diagnosis!
Lisa and Zeus
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

We are sending the most positive thoughts and hopes to Spencer and to you. It must be very scary to have that pain in one of the remaining limbs and we, too, are hoping for just some holiday overexertion.

Sweet Silly Sylvie, the Old English Sheepdog
Diagnosed with osteosarcoma 11/04/2010 at almost 7 years of age * Left hind leg amputated 11/09/2010 * Chemo on 12/10, 12/17, 01/10, 01/31
Sweet Sylvie's earthly journey ended on Nov. 3, 2011, one day short of a year since her diagnosis and 6 days short of her one-year ampuversary. Her family celebrates her life as a sheepdog – ever the puppy, ever silly, ever sweet – and are grateful for our 7 years together.
Paws crossed that this is nothing. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this now, but it's good you're doing it before you leave town.
If it's any comfort, lots of Tripawds show signs like this and it usually turns out to be nothing more serious than a muscle strain. We hope the vet visit brings peace of mind for you all, please keep us posted OK?

I hope it's nothing..one thing to keep in mind. Our Doberman had a mysterious lameness and no vets could figure it out. Turns out he needed a chiropractic adjustment. Fixed him right up! I mention it because I know you have a big long legged Dobe like ours. Good luck!
Levi was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 7-7-11
Ampuversary 10-14-11
Lung Mets Discovered 1-4-12. Chemo seemed to not be working so we switched to Artemisinin and other supplements. In May, Levi developed a sinus infection and started having seizures. The cancer had moved to his brain. We let him go 6-26-12.
thanks for that idea Levi's mom. We will definitely look into that if he doesn't get better ASAP! Here is my facebook update:
update on Spencer... doesn't seem to be a break. They are thinking some sort of soft tissue injury. He'll be getting x-rays in the morning (their other office has digital x-rays, so they are taking him over for that). The vet thinks it is unlikely that this is a new tumor. Most likely he will have a week of mostly staying in his kennel, and then he'll be fine.
I'm going update more in my blog.
Thanks for all of the good thoughts.

Good news! Hope the x-rays confirm and you are able to have a great trip!
