Etta, you have the most beautiful sweet face.  I  questioned if we were doing the right thing for Tasha doing the amputation, so many unknowns.  The day we picked Tasha up after her surgery she came in hopping to us tail wiggling I knew for sure we made the right choice. Tasha has continued to amaze me with how she has adapted to life on three legs.  Hoping soon that you to will be amazed by Etta. My thoughts and prayers will be with you on Thursday.

Hi;

I just wanted to echo the other comments that you've received here. Sorry for the diagnosis, but very glad that you found this site. You'll see that there are several others (myself included) who've been exactly in the position you're in, and have wondered if they were doing the right thing. The answer is an unquestionable YES!

If you read Nikki's blog, you'll see that I've questioned that decision both before and after the surgery, but as I sit here looking at a dog who's happier now than she was even before the surgery, I *know* that the decision was the right one.

You're going to need all of your strength on that first day post surgery, and nothing I or anyone else can tell you will prepare you for the horror of seeing Etta in those initial hours, but trust me when I say it will all be worth it!

Hi Julie and Etta

I love the picture of Etta on the bed. So colourful and she has such a sweet face. It sounds as though most dogs are in pain after having biopsies, but at least that pain will be over on Thursday and she can start healing. Of course, recovery takes some time, but the pain from the bone will be gone.

Santa Barbara? Do you live there? I'll be visiting my folks there in another two weeks, although this will be a short visit. Although my Tazzie passed shortly before Christmas, I met the other tripawds at that beach then. At least I assume that's the video you are talking about, with Wyatt, Maximutt, Linda and Hazel. Maybe I'll get a chance to meet Etta sometime.

All good wishes to you and Etta this week!

Susan

Hey Susan,

I am about an hour or so outside Santa Barbara.  I wish the timing were better I would love to meet up.  And yes, that is the video that I keep watching!  I think it might be too soon for Miss E to travel but I am hoping after enough time and rehab that she will back running around on her favorite beach.

Also, thanks for the info about the biopsy.  I wish the docs had mentioned that... It was really scary to see her in more pain rather than less as each day passed.

Our angel "Etta" amputation on 4-15-10 lost her front limb. initially dx'd with neurofibrosarcoma. However, after surgery they discovered histiocytic sarcoma a very aggressive cancer. After two full rounds of chemo our special angel lost her battle on 6-21-10. the sweetest and most gentle soul. Our lives are forever blessed for having known her...
