Hello,
Jewel is doing remarkably well. She still needs my help to go outside. Yesterday, I did remove the towel and made her come to me. She did great. She didn't sleep much last-night. So I put her on the couch with me and she was out. I, on the other hand, have not slept much. hehe That's ok. She continues to eat and drink. Still no poop. I gave her a little fish oil this morning, hoping that will help. Does anyone have any ideas on how long they can go without pooping and what can I do to help her go. Her drains will come out on Monday. She does have a little bit of seepage coming from one area of her stitches. I hope that is nothing. Other then that my baby seems to be doing well...
Bye for now,
Jewel, Patti and Kyle
I still can't get her photo posted. Do I have to upload to a photo website first?
It is good to hear that Jewel is doing so well. It is not unusual that they do not to have bowel movement for a few days after this major surgery. Genie pooped the first time 5 days after, and I considered that a huge achievement. Some members had suggested pumpkin which might help. Little ocassional seepage from the stitches is normal.
Yes, you need to upload the photos to some website on the internet prior to referencing them with the "Insert Image" button in your posts. (Here is Jerry's instructions)
It is amazing how stressed the humans get about when the dog should poop! If you browse through the forum you will find the subject time and time again. The bottom line is they will poop when they are ready, and it just about certainly will not be within a day or two.
Sounds like Jewel is doing very well. We only used the support towel for Trouble for about 3 days. After that, she was good to go.

Wooo hooo for pooo pooo! Go Jewell!
She definitely sounds like she's doing well. We can't wait to see her photos (thanks Genie!).
By the way, here's some information about seromas, which are common after amputation and may or may not be what the seepage is all about. Let us know what the doc says. Good luck.
