Bless the little man he has joined the tripawds club
He seems very happy on three legs and has been toiletting happily so all good
Vets again Monday to have the fentanyl patch taken off and we will know more about his progress, wound looks good at the moment although there is some oedema at the site at the moment but this will reduce as time goes on I hope
Well done Jack, Storm says welcome to the Tripawd club. Take it easy and put all of your energy into getting back on your (3) feet.

Active 10+ Pyr mix suddenly came up lame with ACL tear in left rear leg. Scheduled for a TPLO but final pre-op x-rays indicated a small suspicious area, possibly OSA, which could have caused the ACL tear. Surgeon opened the knee for TPLO but found soft bone. Biopsy came back positive for OSA. Became a Tripawd 9/18/14. Carbo6 with Cerenia and Fluids. Pain free and living in the moment. Crossed the Bridge on 7/12/15 after probable spread of cancer to her cervical spine. A whole lifetime of memories squeezed into 10 months. Here's her story: Eloise
So happy to hear your update. Way to go Jack!! Keep up the good work!! We're all sending healing thoughts your way!!! He's happy to be on 3 legs cause all that 4th one did was make him hurt. He doesn't need that ole leg anymore! You are such a handsome boy!!
Awwww so glad everything went well and he's home resting. The swelling may turn into drainage but don't panic, it's usually just a seroma . Let your vet know if that happens.
Well here's to pawgress! I hope that you both have a restful remainder of your weekend. Let us know how the checkup visit goes.

Test test test.......this posted, but cannot get a second post on here, so I will try to edit here with my additional message....
So happy Jack is doing well after surgery, may be some ups and downs but that will be normal..... You also could use an ice pack on him for a few days once or twice a day, about 10 minutes, to help with pain and swelling.
Hope he continues on a great path toward healing, and keeping you and him in my thoughts,

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

So visit to the vet to remove the fenatnyl patch today, they are very pleased with him and will see him again on Friday for a wound check then next Friday to take the stitches out.
He still insists on running, easier I guess than taking it slowly but its difficult to keep up with him. He is eating well, in fact whining a lot at not getting very much to eat, taking it slowly with the food at the moment, he gets chicken breasts with the chicken water and his antibiotics, pain killers, turmeric paste and is wolfing it down. Spotted the need to find the stand for his food bowl, its on a box at the moment until we locate the stand 🙂 He is toiletting, although no poo yet today but we aren't worried since he went yesterday.
He is being annoyed by his tail at the moment which was shaved for the patch and looks a bit like a broom, naked with a feather at one end! Otherwise he seems to be happy enough. We have given him an area with a crate and a pen and lovely new beds away from the other dogs to keep him safe and the area clean.
This is his wound a bruising earlier today, we think that his pain level isn't too high at the moment but it is difficult to know

Sooooo glad to get this update. I apologize that I wasn't able to respond to your first post vut, as you know, we have had problems getting replies submitted! But I was here reading anyway!!
Everything sou ds really, really good! Some dogs do have an easier recovery than others. And sometimes arou d day three to five."ish", there can be a bit of a crash fro a while.....or. ot! Every recovery is so differe t!!
And I missed the poop celebration yesterday! YAAAAAAAAAY FOR POOP!!! And he's eating and drinking and peei g...all incredibly good news.
A d yeah, bruisi g and some swelling..al normal.
You are doing an excellent job of taking care of him. I know you, and Jack are glad to all be home together!!

Jack is such a good boy, I'm so glad he can wear one of those collars, a lot of dogs can't, they're just too determined to mess up their stitches.

Had a collar change back to the bigger one because someone is being irritated by their stitches, no harm done as far as we can see but one of the areas along the scar is a lot cleaner than it was! As soon as it stops itching he will be back in the comfy collar again because it's so much better. We do take the collar off though when we are near him as he is very good and leaves it alone when told to and it gives him some relief from having to carry it around
Otherwise day 5 starts with a trot outside for a pee and a snack of rabbit poo, a waggy tail, happy face and a cuddle - all good and getting used to balancing on three legs and remembering which 'leg' to cock
