I'm so sorry that your Wyatt lost his battle. I know the pain, the shock, the disbelief of a rapid change in condition and the all too soon, all too obvious, need to make that decision long before you are prepared to. The only thing that made it bearable is knowing that we had no choice. We had no choice and I'm sure you didn't either. And you gave Wyatt the greatest gift, the gift that we all must give and because of the promise we all make, to end their pain when there is no other choice.

Active 10+ Pyr mix suddenly came up lame with ACL tear in left rear leg. Scheduled for a TPLO but final pre-op x-rays indicated a small suspicious area, possibly OSA, which could have caused the ACL tear. Surgeon opened the knee for TPLO but found soft bone. Biopsy came back positive for OSA. Became a Tripawd 9/18/14. Carbo6 with Cerenia and Fluids. Pain free and living in the moment. Crossed the Bridge on 7/12/15 after probable spread of cancer to her cervical spine. A whole lifetime of memories squeezed into 10 months. Here's her story: Eloise

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

I'm very sorry Kelly.

Cancer is a sneaky, nasty bastard and sometimes it does come on that fast.  I hope you find comfort in knowing you did your best for Wyatt every step of the way including letting him go on ahead.

I hope the strength of the Tripawd Nation can help ease your pain just a little in the coming days and weeks.  Most of us have been where you are now and we understand.

Wyatt will live forever in your heart and so will always be by your side.

I am so sorry to hear about Wyatt.  This pain sucks.  It will take awhile and no one has the answer of when it gets better because this part of the journey is ours to bear.  We can help some but working through the grief basically sucks big time.  Run Free Wyatt.

Thank you all for you thoughtful words, advice, and sympathy.  Dogs are such bittersweet friends to have.  Their lives seem disproportionately short to how intensely they love and are loved in return.  Not fair.  The shock of the situation and the bitterness of making the decision is giving way to sweet memories today.  I miss my boy keenly and would have done anything in my power to make his life longer and better.  I will miss his sweet eyes and expression more than anything... he could look directly into my soul.

Oh sweet angel Wyatt, you will always be a part of this community. We will miss you so much but I'll bet our angel doggies are just having a ball with you at the Bridge, lucky pups.

Kelly, words of sympathy always seem inadequate in comparison to the horrific heartbreak of having to let a beloved companion go...but please know that I am deeply sorry for your loss.  How blessed Wyatt was to have been so dearly loved!  Hopefully in time the memories of your sweet boy will bring smiles to mingle with the tears.

What a gorgeous picture of your sweet Wyatt, and no, we never have enough time with our beloved fur babies....... I am so sorry for your fresh and awful heartbreak, it sits deep within us and seems will never end, but I can tell you with time, the deepest hurt will be replaced with acceptance and happier memories shared with your boy.

What Jerry said is so true, Wyatt will never be forgotten here, and we will all keep him and you within our hearts always. You described your boy so much like my own sweet angel Lab Polly, her soulful eyes, expressions, and gentle grace also allowed her to look deep within my soul and grab my heart like no other dog I have ever had..... I very much get that as does so many others here.

Keeping you and Angel Wyatt in my thoughts, and hoping each day brings you peace in your heart.....

I am really so sorry.  It will never ever be easy to lose our sweet dogs.  People here are so wonderful because they understand, they've been there, they know what we need and they share.  It helps to know you have people supporting you with prayers and love.  I hope you find some comfort in knowing that we all have your back and are here if you need to chat.

hugs,

Debbie and Patches

SO sorry, Kelly.  My heart goes out to you.  We experienced a similar thing.  Our Eddy was doing really well, despite his lung mets.  We were even able to go on our annual Christmas cruise!  He stayed home with my nephew and did awesome...playing in the snow and going on walks!  We returned and had one GREAT day!  Then, the following day, he had a massive seizure and went downhill immediately.  It was awful.  He had been doing so good.  Literally, overnight, our world changed.  Four days after our return, we had to let him go.  The most heart wrenching thing I have ever had to do.  Please take this time to take care of yourself.  Treat yourself gently. Care taking is hard.  You need to pamper yourself and take it day by day...literally.   I am so sorry for your loss.  What a gorgeous boy you had the privilege of caring for.

Betsy Golden and Angel, Eddy.  Eddy was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 7-23-14, had a left rear amputation 8-07-14, had 3 rounds of carboplatin chemotherapy,  a small lung met was discovered in October, had 2 rounds of doxorubicin, and unfortunately more lung mets were discovered.  Eddy fought cancer valiantly and went to the Rainbow Bridge 1-6-15, at the age of 7 years and 359 days, just six days short of his 8th birthday.   Best Dog, Ever....you will never be forgotten.
