Oh gosh it sounds like things are slowly getting better, just from what you described. And I really like that your vet is open to treatments like the manuka honey dressing, that's terrific and should be helpful with healing.
One thing I would say about addressing any potential pain issues, is that from our conversations with vet pain specialists, it takes a "multi-modal" approach to relieving pain. Dogs and cats are so good at hiding it. So in order to control pain, it's not just a drug like Gabapentin that will do it, but also physio therapy which involves things like acupuncture, laser therapy, massage etc. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the therapy session will be the breakthrough she needs. When is your first appointment?

I think we've managed to tweak her meds to bring pain under control but tonight will tell...
Fingers crossed for us guys as I'm super nervous over how tonight will go. She just seems so distressesd at night! But hopefully these meds are right for her.
I know! I like that about her too, we have manuka and we may try acupuncture if rehab vet suggests it. Seeing if our insurance covers it (hopefully).
We go Monday for a full mobility assessment by the rehab specialist but saw her briefly today for some quick tips and exercises/massage to do in meantime.
I think she's recovering in terms of pain, and infection or at least going in the right direction. Just hope she can gather the strength to bear weight on her legs now...

I've got sooooo many emotions going on right now.....and they ate all FEEL GOOD, HAPPY, OPTIMISTIC, HEART FULL OF LOVE EMOTIONS!!!!😍🥰
To see the HEROIC efforts you are going thru,,, to see the WARRIOR FIGHT in that little 6 lb adorable pup just touches my heart and makes it smile!!😊
To you, to Holly, and to your Vet...a standing ovation for not giving up!!!
Shhhhh......our secret, okay? Shhhh......From some of the posts, it sorta', kinda' seemed like upur Vet had given up on her (or maybe it was the ER Vet). Well, I think they are re-thinking that and are now clearly focused on con7 to tweak, to analyze, to revisit possibilities, to have reason to be optimistic!!!!
Think about where you were compared to where you are now!!!😎
Getting her off opiods, getting her pain managed, seeing her TRY, the wound is looking "better" and not sore, NO FEVER, she reacted when you pinched her toes!!!! HUGE, HUGE, HUGE IMPROVEMENTS!. AND, as horrible as it is to see her frustrated and whine and cry, it's still a "good" sign that she WANTS to get mobile and believes she can!!!👏
I know it was helpful to get some clarity on the questions. It helped us too!
THEILLED that the PT offered a couple of tips and THRILLED that you have an appointment set up for Monday...
So, to kinda' chunk things down as to where she is right now in recovery. Is this a good synopsis? . Since she seems pretty "content" now without the opiods and a good pain protocol (relatively speaking), the bulk of the whining is when she wants to get up, especially at night. Otherwise, she's fairly "comfortable"?
So, at night the frustration is probably worse because she may be used to sleeping on one side, or is used to getting up and turning on her own, maybe jas a leg cramp etc. Once we can get her more mobile, that will make a hige difference.
Now that uou've overcome sooooo many hurdles, you may be able to actually FINALLY just focus on mobility!!! The Rehab appointment will be invaluable now that she's graduated to that point.
Now, as far as the injection. Visualize in your mind's eye, calmly m and effortlessly going thru the process successfully. Embody that feeling of calm and success in your being. 👌✌ Give her some special treats to keep her focus on yummy stuff. Pet her as normal, sneak In the injection...YAY!!! DONE!!
Also, if she reacts tonight with some crying, etc. YOU CAN HANDLE IT!!! It will be ja4d to watch of course, but you've been down that route before. Massaging, repositioning, soothing words, you can get thru it. Even of you have to go out of the room for a few minites, you can get thru it..
YOU ARE FAR STRONGER THAN YOU KNOW!!!! UNBELIEVABLY STRONG!!!🏋️♂️🏋️♀️
Lots and lots of love and hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Not tje best techie in the world. Bit what I have to do with my tavlet is put my video onto UoiTibe. Then I go to three little dots kn the right hand side of the video once it's uploaded. Then I hit share....then "copy" to clipboard...then paste over here
Actually, wait for a techie !! Not even sure how I do it!

Thanks Sally,, I also have so many emotions. My Hol is so brave and amazing. I love her soooo much.
I think the ER vet was starting to give up but I didn't, and neither did Holly. And thank God we didn't.
She's showing improvement all the time. She's not eaten much today but I've just cooked her 4 chicken nuggets so we'll see. She can't have her anti inflam on an empty stomach.
Thanks for your support

First of all, she is THE CUTEST THING EVVVVVER!!! OMD!!! ADORABLE!! Imjist stared at the "still" first before I started the video because I couldn't take my eyes off her CUTENESS!!
To me, that definitely sounds more like a frustration whine than any kind of marjor pain, so that good.(relatively speaking of course).
One thing I noticed. What is she laying on? It seems as though she couldn't get any traction .
If the surface is slippery at all, or squishy at all, it's really hard to get traction ...to get a grip.
If you stand her, does she show any signs of keep her legs under her in standing position, if even for a second?
As far as peeing and pooping. Is she does doing that in the bed?
One more thing, I know she HAS Ato have the bandage on, but in her mind she may fi d that a hindrance. Not saying it's stopping her from standing, just maybe a tiny piece of the puzzle.
I really, really, really think physical therapy will help so much. Yes, she's weak and muscle wastage happens very quickly. But Rehab will help with that too!
Several small meals a day of anything she'll eat.
Again, you are doing such an great job!
Techie Genius Sally 😎

Techie genius Sally - I love that. So much more techie than me hahaha
She's the cutest isn't she!!!! I just love her so much. I'll post some pics if you can tell me how to do that?! Haha
There she's just on a blanket but I've tried her on various surfaces, rugs, rubber mats, soft floor, hard floor and she reacts the same. She just doesn't bend that front leg and can't seem to pull herself up?
Physio should help, I hope. Her lower back seems a little tender to touch and her back legs definitely show reduced muscle mass
She's allowed alllll the treats and food she likes
Thank you Sally
Here's a link to adding photo... but if you have a tavlet not sure this works.
Anyway a techie (not of genius status, but a techie in training😉) can come and explain better
Would you be able to video trying to help her up? I know ot woild be hard to hold the tablet, but see of you can.
LTE the Rehab know she was on Pred for five months and there is a possibility it may have masked a spine issue.....the tenderness in the back, etc. As you know, we're throwing out every option possible in the entire Universe, so may as well mention that too!!
The Rehabe Vet will have ideas on building up her "core" muscles... her little tummy muscles. Those muscles will help her sit up.
Cannot get over how soooo little and so adorable she is!!
Let us know when you get that injection in smoothly and effortlessly and with calm and confidence so we can celebrate with you!😎

Definitely techie genius Sally 😎
Ok I'll give it a go. I have an old laptop so I can try on that if it doesn't work here..
Yes I'll try that, hopefully will be able to get one later.
Yeah I will do, I think its masked arthritic back end and spine - she had this but mild before the mast cell and was controlled with loxicom
I hope so, her muscles definitely need retraining. We've done 3 physio exercises today and she's super tired now. Absolutely flat out
She's so small and cute, just too cute 💕
So injection went well! I did it and she didn't flinch. Phewwww😊
