Hi Nancy, Butchey, and all,

I was afraid to post this yesterday for fear that I would get a call today saying that there had been a mistake, but so far so good.

Percy had his check up and chemo yesterday.  Usually if Percy's blood test or other tests are unremarkable, they go ahead with his chemo without meeting with me.  If there are issues, like the new mets on his last xrays, then they'll usually talk with me before proceeding.  After finding the new mets on his last xray, they told me that it was unlikely that we would be able to shrink his mets, and that we were now just trying to slow down their growth as much as possible.  It was devastating news because it felt like the last bit of hope had been taken away.  Because of the new mets from last time, I had prepared myself for not-so-good news this time so I was not surprised when the doctor said that he wanted to show me Percy's xrays.  But what he said next was the most wonderful and amazing surprise.  According to yesterday's xrays, Percy's mets are gone!!!  Percy already had one met at diagnosis, so this is the first time that Percy's discharges have said "lungs are clear!"

Nancy, since Butchey's diagnosis sounds similar to Percy's, I wasn't sure if you might want to know Percy's current treatment.  It is:  vinorelbine in week 1, vinorelbine in week 2, carboplatin in week 3, then three weeks off.  We've done one round of that and just started the second round yesterday.  How did Butchey's scans turn out?

It will be about six weeks before Percy's next xrays.  Regardless of how that turns out, for the next six weeks we are met free!!

Thanks Charon and Gayle!!  We're dancing here too!  That conversation with our vet was just such a surprise.  It actually reminded me of the day I found out that Percy had cancer, only reversed in a good way -- I was shocked to get good news that I had thought was not possible anymore.

Wow Percy!! That is amazing and wonderful news!  You just never know what you will get on this cancer journey, but times like these are times to treasure.

I'm not sure how I missed the emails on the posts on this thread, but WOW!!  Congrats Percy!!!  No Mets dance being done here, too!  That is amazing.  I am going to print this out and save it in Butch's medical file.

So excited for you both!!!!
