Turns out (I didn’t even realize) that he has the dissolvable kind that don’t need to be taken out. The vet said he looked excellent and all the vet techs commented on how cute he was bunny hopping around like he owned the place as if nothing ever happened. He was pulling me on the leash and everything. He got in and out of the car on his own (with me holding the handle of his harness just in case) just fine! They say he looks good for 11 years old :). He got his first injection of the Torigen vaccine today. He goes back once a week for two more shots and then he’s done. Vet said he’s cleared to go back to work and do his normal stuff lol. We will also do a ping scan once every 3 - 4 months going forward. I’ll try and take more videos!
Sounds like Mr. Cuteness has the entire Vet team wrapped around his paws!! We are head over heels in love with him top!
He is a wonderful example of how well dogs can recover quickly and get 9n with gettin' on!!
GREAT UPDATE!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Oh what a day! He is BACK and ready to tackle life again! WOOHOO! What a milestone. I'm thrilled for you two.
I'm so glad you mentioned the Torigen vaccine he's getting, I totally forgot about that so keep us posted! If you want to start a new topic about the experience, even better. That will make it easier for folks to find your story when searching for more info on this treatment. But hopefully there will be nothing to report in that topic other than "NO CANCER .... AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN!"
Kota got to go back to work today with his momma!
My wife’s family owns a police supply store here so it’s all her family that works there. Kota has been to work with her almost every day since he was a baby. He’s like the shop mascot. We all call him “Bean” or some variation of that (beans, beanie, etc.). It was because Kota got cut to Ko-Ko then Ko-Ko bean then just bean plus when he lays down sometimes he looks like a little bean when curled up. So when you hear them calling him bean that’s why.
He got to see all his favorite work people and got plenty of love. My wife said he did a lot of panting when walking around. I imagine it’s because right now it’s still exhausting to move like that until he gets used to it. Plus his stamina isn’t much right now. But he got plenty of snoozing done in between supervising. (He’s used to being a working boy.)
Bonus Footage: We used the ramp for the second time:) He was looking at me like “dad I know how to get on the bed why are you filming me?”
KoKo Bean you are such a loved and adored handsome boy! I could tell how happy you were being back at work and getting all the love and attention from all your admirers. And to see you hopping along in the parking lot like a marathon runner had me grinning ear to ear.
We are all so proud of how well you are doing. You are definitely a Tripawd RockStar.😎
You are quite the fashionista with your Supervisor hat in your stylish t-shirt
And you use the ramp with so much flare and in a Kota specific way being careful but confident. You owned it!
I love the way he was eyeing the bed in anticipation of sleeping on it.
Thank you so much for posting these videos today. To see him doing so well just warms my heart. He really is a strikingly handsome boy

Awwwww sweet boy! I loved seeing his reunion with the co-workers! He looks so happy and relaxed to be back in his groove. And going up the ramp was really fun to see too. Bean's got it down like nopawdy's business.
Thank you for sharing! I can't wait to make a little video clip so people can see there's good days ahead after recovery.
Hi all! I’m back with more smilestones to share! Here lately, Kota has been doing more and more and is jumping up to go do things again. He gets up and down from the bed and couch more confidently. He even got up on the chair with me without help for the first time since surgery. He usually spends most of the night in my reclining leather chair laying on me until he gets hot.
Yesterday, we gave him his first bath since his surgery. He did so good standing in the shower the whole time. Now he is a soft, clean-smelling bean again! He was so frisky after the shower lol. He’s doing plenty of back wiggles and He’s figured out how to chew his bone by propping it against his one leg on the floor to chew the end. He played tug standing up for the first time (that’s his favorite thing to do is tug). All in all, his behavior is so much better and it makes me happy he wants to play all the time now. He’s able to walk around, jump up and down, and hop pretty fast around the house without panting now. He still lays down every time we stop but oh well. We are still working on his stamina.
Today he played a little rough house with his brother for the first time since surgery.
Of course, when I start recording they stop. But the main thing is he is wanting to be himself again. My wife said this is the first time she has really felt like we did the right thing because he just seems so much happier now. More waggy and just more.. beany. Which is an adjective we made up for him when you can tell he’s full of his spark.
Jerry brought up a good point for anyone going through this and is reading. There are good days ahead. Takes some time to get there but they’re coming. I swear it feels like he’s a happier boy than before.
Kota being more Beany.....love that!!
Seeing him wrestle with his brother a vit put a HIGE grin on my face.....and I know you were grinning ear to ear too! Your boys are so handsome.
He really is having quite a remarkable recovery. I know sometimes it's hard to "see the forest for the trees" dir9ng recovery. We can assure you though, Kota is doing really, really well....and will continue to do so!!!

Ohhhhhh how sweet! I just had a chance to sit down and see the photo and the video (our auction is keeping me super busy!), WOW! You can see all the sparkle in his step and his expressions. Kota is BACK!
Thank you so much for sharing. As soon as the auction is wrapped up I am going to make that movie and share his story in Tripawd Tuesday. You've done such a great job documenting everything from start to finish, and we all look forward to more celebrations of your sweet boy (and his brother!)
