I am having a hard time finding a vet that will do Winston's amp surgery.  UC Davis next appt is March 14.  That's way to long to wait.  A specialty vet about 2 hours away has sooner appt but they quoted me on the low side $4000 for his size.  My vet won't do it.  Any Northern California tripawds out there that can recommend a vet that won't bankrupt me.  I live about 1 hr from Yosemite.   He's hanging in there but I know the pain will soon be unbearable.

I am so sorry you are in this situation. I know there are a number of Cali Tripawds that can hook you up with some contacts. Hopefully they'll chime in very soon. In the meantime, we are thinking about you and Winston and sending you our best.

Maggie had her amp at BAVS, Bay Area Veterinary Specialists, in San Leandro. When I just looked them up I see they are now a VCA facility. Honestly I don't know if that is good or bad. Our onc still works there, Dr. Cecile Siedlecki. I swear by her- she is now seeing quad-pug Tani. The surgeon we hed left long ago, Mag had her amp in Sept 2006.
I guess I'm not being much help.
You can google BAVS- I'd give you a link but I haven't figured it out on my iPad.
Good luck with your search.

Hi there
So sorry your boy has to go through with this but this is a great place to get the best support.
My girl Lylee has had two surgeons. Dr Tim Sellmeyer in Dublin, Sage Veterinary Surgical Associates http://sagecenters.com/. Both are great surgeons! Unfortunately they are expensive.
I would call Davis and ask about cancellations. I've done this before and they were very helpful.
Sending hugs

Be sure to call UCD regularly to let them know you will go in an instant if they have any cancellations. We got Jerry in about 3 weeks early when they called unexpectedly with an opening the next day. Also check the Veterinary Specialist Referrals forum or ask for suggestions there.
