Gus update: He stayed overnight at the vets - they were great, called me a couple times in the evening to give me updates on him. This morning my sweet boy greeted the vet with a kiss on the nose and lots of tail wags. They say he's navigating without support but they are keeping him for the day for pain control - he didn't respond well to one of the drugs yesterday (the morphine type stuff) so they are trying other combos today of Rimadyl and Tamadol (?). I have an appt scheduled to pick him up late afternoon.
YAAAAAAAAAY!!! WET NOSE AND KISS FOR THE VET....WALKING ALREADY.....E X C E L L E N T! 🙂
I like that the Vet is on top of managing his pain meds in a way that works best for Gus.
Thanks for the update! Looking forward to celebrate all sorts of victorious milestones with Gus!! 🙂

Gus is home!!!
I was pretty shocked to see him and had a few tears to begin with but I told him he was such a good strong boy and so brave and he wagged his tail and pulled on the leash to come to me. He‘s walking amazingly well, I think, given what he‘s been through. I‘ve got him in my office where he‘s segregated from our other (high energy) dog and where he can rest. I don‘t think he‘s hurting too much - he‘s very engaged and lots of tail wags.
He had a good dinner and drank some water. Time for warm packs on his fluid pouch. I‘m so happy he‘s home!

Had a good night - he still seems pain-free. Tired, a little confused, but still lots of tail wags and requests to 'scratch my belly'. He got on the couch and slept there all night. He's been out to potty twice this morning, and is navigating pretty well, I think. I uploaded a video - hope you guys can see it.
Gus is tired today, probably lots of sore muscles, poor baby. He went outside this morning, drank some water and had morning treats and then climbed into bed and has been asleep ever since. Will definitely try to keep him quiet the next few days as he continues to recover. Pain seems under control - I think he‘s just tired.
