Hi Everyone,
We are "happy campers" at home this morning. I just got of the phone with the vet who performed his surgery. She went to see him last night about 10.00 pm. He was up and complaining about being in the cage. He walked outside with her and had a PEEEE !!!. She said, it never fails to amaze her how resilient animals are.. He walked around for a while with her, and she put him into a run, then "zonked" him for the night with hydromorphone.. He is up and eating this morning, and is complaining about the collar "of shame". It would be an understatement to say I was surprised. She said the wound looks good, and he will come home with Tramadol and Metacam(honey flavoured)... We will be picking him up sometime after 10:30, and hopefully I'll have some photos to upload later... However, I am not lulling myself into a false sense of security and well-being, just yet...
What a relief..... !!!.. My wife Charlotte had her left kidney removed (Stage 4 renal carcinoma) almost 3 years ago, and it is the same sort of relief I felt when she woke up after the surgery.. The only thing she said to me was "I want the green one" and then crashed out for another 4 hours..We still have no idea what she was talking about.....btw, she is in full remission (thank goodness)..
We are not sure what little Serge will say to us, other than ..."Get this satellite dish off my head !!!!"
Regards
Richard

That's pawesome news!!! So glad he's doing ok. I'm on the same road, Domino is currently 2 days post op and so far so good. Why did your Serge need amputation and which limb was it?
Fingers a paws crossed for a great continued recovery!

Domino had his left front leg amputate on May 13th 2014 after being hit by a car. He's now living a happy healthy life on three legs :)

Hi Cassie,
He was born without a hock in the left rear leg, and because of the potential for injury in the "flapping" foot, there was no real alternative to amputation.
Hope Domino has a good and speedy recovery,
Richard

What a fantastic update! I'm so glad to hear things are good and Serge will have that extra pain control, it makes a big difference in recovery.
As for Charlotte...wow! Give her my best and tell her that we think she's a rock star! That's awesome she beat that cancer.
Best wishes to all of you. I have to run out now but will be back later today in the chat room if you need anything. Give Serge a smooch from us.
