Belvidere had a really restless night. Spoke to vet and will be using Tramadol if he seems uncomfortable again. He’s been good all day and getting around like a champ. Can’t wait to see the improvements over the next 2 weeks. And can’t wait for the cone to go! Thanks everyone!
If I'm understanding this right, Belvidere is off the Fentynal patch, maybe a day or so? Is today the first time he's had any other meds?
If that's the case, keep the pain meds in his system CONSISTENTLY from now on and don't give the pain a chance to get ahead start. It's hard to get it back under control. Does he have Gabapentin, or just Tramadol? If he has both, you may want to give them an hour or so apart so he constantly has the pain medicated.
Not a Vet and not giving Vet advice. Just sharing what we normally see arpund here. It's still very, very early in recovery. Belvidere certainly seems to be ahead of the curve when it comes to the way he is recovering this soon! He's a tripawd RockStar......a RockStar who needs to still take it easy!
Hope you get a good night's sleep! This recovery gig can be exhausting!
Hugs

Thanks. Yes, the fentanyl patch came off Monday. He's been getting Rimadyl all along. I have both gabapentin and tramadol on hand if needed but he really has not shown much indication of pain except Tuesday night. I did give him some tramadol last night before bed and we both slept great! Ha! I am amazed at how well he is getting around. I know we have a long ways to go but such a dramatic improvement from the first day home. I feel so much better about everything.
Lookin good Belvidere!
