After dinner, he decided to get up on his own. Heard him from the other room and hustled to find him out of the bed and standing there looking around. While I’m glad to know he can do it, I’d rather be there to assist and avoid any falls! He’s definitely perked up. Amazing what 24 hours can do. Oh...and had to get the cone of shame since he decided to check out his incision. Poor guy!

Sure sounds like his sparkle is coming back! I agree, it's good to be there to help a bit. There's a fine line you'll walk between helping and babying, but you'll get the hang of it. And good job putting the cone back on. No fun for him but better than redoing the incision.

Again...what a difference 24 hours make. He’s getting up on his own and starting to walk around the house. He smelled our dinner on the porch and came out. Didn’t have any trouble with the wood floors. This is great! Happy Mom!

Even better this morning. Had our first poopicon_png last night so that was good. Today he's eating his food and moving around the house a bit. This is great! Thanks for everyone's kind words and support. Y'all are awesome!

Thanks for the encouragement. He’s moving around the house some on his own. Actually went to drink out of the toilet and then made his way on to my parents bed....one of his favorite lounging spots. Getting off was a bit of an adventure. All is good. Seems a little restless tonight. Hope he settles.

So glad he's doing well. Celebrate all the little steps along the way. It's a journey and will have its ups and downs so feel the joy of the ups. You will have lots of proud moments over the next few months.

OK drinking toilet water is a GREAT sign! I'm so hoppy to hear that. If the restlessness keeps up, let your vet know. More pain medication may be necessary.
