Oops I just replied in your other post as I didn't realize it was an older one. Glad to read here how well he is doing now.

Beautiful pup!

Otis - 121 lbs pre amp - 114 lbs post amp and now 118 lb Great Dane - English Mastiff X.  Started limping on 12/24/16.  Diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 12/28/16 - amputation of front left leg on 1/6/17.  Stitches out and 1st round of Chemo on 1/19/17.   2nd round of Carboplatin on 2/10/17 - 3rd round on 3/2/2017.  4th round was scheduled for 3/22/17 - however due to low WBC postponed - 4th Chemo completed on 3/28/17.  Had breathing difficulties, stayed in Tufts ICU overnight.  Due for 2 more rounds of Chemo but we are opting to go with homeopathy with Dr. Loops instead.

Haha, no worries - thank you for the time you took on the other one!

He is doing MUCH better. Day by day he comes a little bit back to normal, and he's starting to eat better, too!

Hey, everyone!

It has been FAR TOO LONG since we updated on Holden. Our apologies, but the little nug is just loving life and it's easy to get wrapped up in that!

Long story short, he is doing SO WELL. We just had his check-up X-rays and third round of Carbo and he looking "normal" on all fronts.

Additionally, he is eating so much better than he has been in a long time. He'll still eat at odd times, but he is eating all of his food. There are some days he'll just choose to be lazy and not eat, but those are more infrequent than they have been in the past.

He still has a bit of a liquid pouch at the end of his incision. The vets aren't too worried about it. It's not "cute," but also not something they're concerned about. One vet even thought it might be some fat that will just stay there. We'll keep checking on it.

Anyway, here are some photos of our recent road trip from Chicago to Asheville and Raleigh, NC to see his grandparents, a smiling face at home, and hanging out with his buddy, Murphy, in the park.

xoxo

Hello everyone!

Wow, wow, wow. First of all, sincere apologies for disappearing from this forum for so long. As a positive here, it's truly because we've been so wrapped up in this fuzzy little pup.

To cut to the chase, I just want to let everyone here know that Holden is doing incredibly well

I was reading through all of the posts and replies in this conversation and, while I was reflecting, I was reminded of how much all of this meant to us during the beginning of this difficult journey... and what it still means now.

Holden kicked ass through all of his IV chemo treatments and now he's on a once-a-day regimen of anti-inflammatory chews and a low-dose compounded chemo pill (always served with a very necessary spoonful of peanut butterwinker). This will continue indefinitely to help keep anything at bay and away. He also has chest x-rays, blood tests, and a general "cancer checkup" every three months to make sure everything is still looking good.

He has made some awesome besties at the cancer treatment center - human and dog, alike!

Holden turned four at the beginning of August - it's crazy to think it has been around a year and a half since all of this started. We are so, so, so lucky to still have this beautiful fluff with us and that is never lost on us when we get to interact with his infectious spirit every day.

Here is a link to a smattering of pictures and videos from my Instagram post to him on his birthday this year - figured sharing this was easier than posting a bunch of things!

Much love to everyone here - again, so sorry for dropping off the board!

Love,

Holden and his fam

Hooraaaay for Holden! YAY!

That is such terrific news, thank you so much for letting us know life is good. We are always thrilled to know that a community member is doing so well. No apologies necessary for not being here, all that matters is that you and Holden are making the most out of every day and having a ball. Congrats!
