Hi everybody 💕🐮💕
For those of you who may not know Eurydice's story, she was a gorgeous 💗Great Dane 💗 who lost her right front leg to osteosarcoma.
I decided to go the heavy duty route and try chemo and all possible drugs (within reason) to try and delay the progression of this 💩💩💩💩 disease.
Just before my adored girl had surgery I was asked if I wanted a venous access port installed.
I am SO glad they did mention this !!!
It sits inside the neck (no collars allowed after that) we can feel and see a little lump but that is it plus dogs are not even aware it's there.
The wonderful, wonderful thing is whenever blood samples are needed and chemo is administered it is all done by qualified staff with a special needle and our dogs do not feel a thing 😍 not-a-thing 😍
It is totally painless and safe.
Maybe this is one of the reasons why Eurydice was always so excited to get her chemo treatments 😉 no pain and a lot of cuddles from the oncologist and the staff.
I cannot even imagine the stress she (and me) would have to indure if chemo was administered the traditional way, the pain and the stress on the poor veins ...
I am a total believer in VAPs and would advise everybody who will follow the chemo route to consider this for their babies.

It may look "unappealing" but it is a marvellous tool to administer chemo

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
