Hi everybody,
Recovering from amp has generally been very positive, baby steps and little progress but steady, steady, every day.
But I am very worried because she has been sneezing in the past week, not all the time but still ... she is sneezing.
I am thinking about lung mets, it will be 1 month after amputation and 2 weeks after the first round of chemo this wednesday.
I know how fast this horrible monster can spread, coughing would be a bad sign but how about sneezing???
I scanned the net but couldn't find any info concerning sneezing specifically.
We are seeing the vet tomorrow for a blood test but I am just wondering if anybody has any experience or thoughts on this ???
Thank you !
Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)
Obviously, talk to your vet, but I think sometimes sneezing is just sneezing. Otis was doing it a bit last week, along with coughing after eating or drinking. And now he is not. Pollen levels are pretty high, and Otis spends a lot of time outside laying down. And I think the coughing was some chemo remnant - he ended up on Pepcid AC after round 2, and we just stopped using it last week. I totally get your stress, however. I have two dogs, and spend way too much time listening to them both breathe as if I could distinguish mets by the sound of a dog sleeping.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
Oh ... thank you for that ... it is probably nothing ... I hope.
Like Otis, she spends a lot of time laying down at the park and sometimes it is a bit windy nothing much but still ... could maybe cause the sneezing.
I will talk to the vet tomorrow, not too long to wait.
It is just our mummy's hearts at action, hey?
Sending you kisses and cuddles to Otis

Welcome to the "Worry Wart Club"! You've just been voted in by your Worry Wart Peers!
Prior to this journey, we've accepted that a sneeze is just a sneeze, a burp is just a burp, a cough is just a cough, and a pooty toot is just a toot! Vut now we tske everything to a whole new level.of crisis worrying and Google until we find at least one little word to ensure us that we shoukd be worrying and rush them immediately to the ER...and running red lights and stop signs all along the way!!
Highly highly likely allergies!! The vet will check him out tomorrow and he'll be fine. If his wbc is low and the chemo has to be dely, so not panic! That happens a lot a d is not unexpected, okay?
Now go grab that CHOCOLATE and enjoy the sugar rush it gives you!!
Hugs!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Thank you so much Sally
You're right, we do take everything to a new level now ... but sugar does help
Normally I am not a panicky person at all and have handled emergencies really well but this is totally unknown territory and a fierce adversary to fight against.
Thank you so, so much for telling me about the wbc, that would have been a huge one for me to panic if they were too low ...
Sending you lots of love and cuddles to your gorgeous doggies

Try not to panic. As far as I know sneezing is not a symptom of mets. It's probably just sneezing as Otis' mom said. Pollen is thick in the air right now, it's probably just allergies. If it continues, and is accompanied by watery eyes, runny nose etc., definitely have it checked out.

Ollie isn't a Tripawd, but boy do we have experience with allergies! He did a sneezing fit last night that had me looking up inside his nose to see if something was stuck there. Nope, just a sneezing fit. His allergies mostly manifest themselves in excessive itching and scratching. He's allergic to the world. The other day he wouldn't stop scratching to the point that my husband asked what In the world was wrong with him. Then we realized that since we were moving everything out of the house in preparation for painting and flooring, we had stirred up a ton of house dust. That and dust mites are two of his worst allergens. It does sound like your admission to the worry wart club is well founded.
Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Max sneezes too, usually if he's nearby when I've sprayed hairspray or cologne. And since he's short, he hits his nose on the floor when he sneezes! Its kind of comical lol

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

Oh .... ufffff .... I am sooooo relieved ...... so I am worrying for nothing ...

Where are you guys? Like the others have said, I am sure it is allergies ... Jasper (who's also not a tripawd) got a horrible sneezing fit a couple weeks ago while we were out of town. I was sure she had a foxtail up her nose but as soon as we got back to LA, she was fine! I think she was allergic to the detergents in the hotel linens! But I get it ... I would worry like crazy too!!!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
We're in London so weather can shift from hot and sunny in the morning, freezing in the afternoon and raining in the evening ... and all combinations of craziness at any time including snowing too ...
Before, she couldn't care less abut the weather, she was running around in the park like a crazy rabbit every day so I suppose she wouldn't be affected by temperature changes and wind as much as now that she hops around and has loads of pauses in between ...
a fox tail up her nose ... ahahaha that's so visual and so funny
Sending you lots of kisses and cuddles to Jasper
