Hi everyone,  I haven't been on the site for many months but just wanted to let newer members know that Brody is doing fantastic!  This is a greyhound who had a broken leg, two surgeries and then got bone cancer at the site of his plates.  After his amputation, he almost bled out, had two transfusions and was in ICU for about five days.  Never give up!  Brody is almost 11 months post amp and is symptom free.  He had chemo last summer, eats no wheat products, takes K-9 Immunity and Omega 3 regularly and also Metacam once in a while.  He is as spoiled as ever, still the fastest dog at the dog park and every day is a gift.  He sometimes tires during our walks and now likes to lie outside on the grass.  Hang in there…whether it be days, weeks, months or years.  Thanks again for all of the support during this journey.

Pat, Brody and family,

You are singing music to my ears! Not only is Brody's story great but your attitude is so very wonderful and right on target. I have only hinted at just how bad Miss Cherry's prognosis was at the time of her amputation, but like you we fought with all our collective strength.  As far as I am concerned, the 405 days post amputation (410 post diagnosis) were better than winning the lottery.

The noise you are hearing from Livermore is our celebration for Brody and the wonderful spirit you bring.  Keep on posting - this community needs al the positive vibs that it can get.

Yeeeaay! We always hope that no news is greyt news here, and indeed Brody has proven our theory is correct! Thank you so much for the update. I put links into your post so newcomers can see the challenges he had and watch his progress.

What an amazing Tripawd you have there. Give him a big smooch from us!

SUPER GOOD NEWS!!!  Brody, you are a wonderdog and Jack says he wants to be JUST like you!  I tried to tell him that he can't be just like you because, well...you're a greyhound, but that just made him sad.  So we are wishing you happy times with your next 11 months!  And if you see a nutty mutt in a greyhound suit, please give me a call 🙂

Wow!  My greyhound, Boo, has the same story...Broken leg (us too)! two surgeries to "fix" the broken leg (Yup)! bone cancer found at the sight of the plate (same story)!  Amputation surgery (been there)! Major post op bleeding (that too)!  Boo's leg was amputated on Sept 8...major bleeding led us to another surger on Sept 14...more bursted capilaries and busted stitches...another surgery on Sept 21!

We are currently 6+months post-amp and our little grey is also doing fantastic!  (To be honest I'm having a hard time keeping up with Boo these days.  She wants to be outside exploring the world all the time.  Our once daily walk to the park isn't enough for her...she wants to go further)!

Hearing your news of being 11 months post-amp brings a big smile to my face and a flutter in my heart!  Congrats!  And THANK YOU for sharing the hope!

Boo became a Tripawd Warrior Princess on Sept 8, 2009. She crossed over the Rainbow Bridge 2.7 years later on April 29, 2012. Run free Angel Boo!
